We’ve got 11 games on the betting slate tonight, including an Eastern Conference clash between the New York Islanders and Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena.

Fading the Isles penalty kill has been a profitable wager this season, which is why my Maple Leafs vs. Islanders predictions expect Mitch Marner to register a point on the PP.

Maple Leafs vs Islanders prediction

My Leafs pick
Mitch Marner Over 0.5 power play points (+145 at Sports Interaction)

My Leafs analysis
If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

That’s my mentality tonight when I go back to the well and go with Mitch Marner’s power play points prop once again as my best bet.

The Toronto Maple Leafs PP is finally starting to reap the rewards of a good process. Despite generating the second most scoring chances and high-danger chances on the man advantage, the Leafs rank just 19th in the NHL with a 20% success rate on the power play. However, it seems like the Buds are getting into a groove on the man advantage with goals in three of its last four games.

The Islanders have the league's worst penalty kill, with just a 64% success rate. They've surrendered a power-play goal in eight of their last ten games. Additionally, the Leafs generate a ton of quality chances each night. This should lead to success, considering New York's high-danger save percentage is 31st, at a lowly .640% on the PK.

Therefore, I think it’s a good bet Toronto will strike again with the extra attacker tonight.

The puppeteer to the entire Leafs power play is Mitch Marner, who is +145 to register a point on the man advantage tonight. After notching another assist at 5-on-4 last night, he leads the Leafs with 17 points on the man advantage and has factored into 85% of their total goals on the power play.

Maple Leafs vs Islanders same-game parlay (SGP)

Auston Matthews 3+ shots

Bobby McMann 2+ shots

Leafs to score first

I like Auston Matthews to get at least three shots on goal tonight. Whether it’s taking shots on the power play or at 5-on-5, Matthews is the main trigger man when he’s on the ice. He’s also reached this shot total in six of his last seven games.

Next up, let’s take advantage of a red-hot Bobby McMann and take him to register two or more shots again tonight. He and his new linemates have scored eight times over the last three games and seem to be getting favorable offensive-zone starts. McMann has hit this total in all four games since returning from injury and has cleared this number in 11 of his last 12 outings.

For the final leg of the SGP. I like the Leafs to score the first goal of the game. This is a fade play. The Islanders have given up the first goal a league-leading 21 times this season through 33 games (63%).
