Evan Bouchard is coming off a monster shooting performance in which he piled up six shots on 10 attempts against the Buffalo Sabres.

My Oilers vs. Devils predictions see the big-shot defenseman picking up where he left off in another advantageous matchup.

Let’s take a closer look with my NHL picks for March 13.

Oilers vs Devils prediction

My Oilers pick: Evan Bouchard Over 2.5 shots (-105 at BET99)

My Oilers analysis
Evan Bouchard is one of the best volume shooting defensemen in the NHL, especially when well rested. He's cleared 2.5 shots in eight of his last 11 games following two off days for the Edmonton Oilers.

He’s fared even better as the season progressed and rest has become more important. Bouchard has averaged 4.2 shots on 8.6 attempts over his last five games in this situation, failing to record three or more shots only against the first-placed Washington Capitals.

Bouchard attempted at least seven shots in his last five games after a couple of days off. That’s a sweet spot for him — he has three shots or more in 76% of his games when generating at least seven shot attempts.

Bouchard’s booming shot should be on full display against the New Jersey Devils. They’ve defended the house well, which has led to many point shots for opponents. New Jersey conceded the third most shots to defensemen over the last 10 games and seventh most on the season.

Further, the Devils sit 25th in shot suppression when defending Bouchard’s primary shooting zone.

He should have plenty of room to operate against a team focused on protecting the net front, which was the case when the two sides clashed earlier this season as Bouchard recorded three shots on a whopping 10 attempts.

The Devils have faced four star defensemen — Zach Werenski, Josh Morrissey, Cale Makar, and Roman Josi — with 2.5 shot totals since the 4 Nations tournament concluded. Each of them cleared their line while only Werenski failed to hit four shots.

Look for Bouchard to take advantage of this matchup next.

Oilers vs Devils same-game parlay (SGP)

Evan Bouchard Over 2.5 shots

Timo Meier Over 2.5 shots

Under 6.5

Timo Meier is heating up. The Swiss winger has registered three shots or more in six of his past seven games, only coming up short against the Western Conference-leading Winnipeg Jets.

He's played a bigger role since Jack Hughes was lost for the season, skating on the top line alongside Nico Hischier and being promoted to the top power play unit.

He’s made the most of his opportunity, averaging 3.5 shots on 7.3 attempts while generating at least six attempts in all four games sans Hughes. This kind of success is nothing new for Meier, who cleared 2.5 shots at a 67% clip when Hughes was sidelined a season ago.

The Oilers rank fifth in pace and 25th in shot suppression at 5-on-5 over the last 10 games, making this a nice matchup for Meier to continue firing.

Rounding out the parlay is an alternate Under on the total. The Devils own a 24-40-2 O/U record on the season and are playing without their best weapon in Jack Hughes, making it harder for them to score.

They’ll be looking to keep the screws as tight as possible to avoid Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl forcing them into a game of keep-up they can’t win.
