Best NHL Player Prop Bets Today, March 18: Star Turn

Our NHL player prop picks believe the Dallas Stars' second power play unit will shine vs. the Ducks tonight. Josh Inglis offers two additional line stacks as well for Tuesday night.

It’s a St. Paddy’s Day hangover here as yesterday’s card went 0-3 SU. The NHL betting season is always filled with swings, and when you’re betting bigger plus-money props every day, it happens. But we have a nine-game slate to bounce back with tonight.

These are my three favorite NHL player props for Tuesday, March 18.

Best NHL player prop bets for March 18

Jordan Kyrou + Brayden Schenn + Dylan Holloway Over 0.5 points each (+450 at bet365)

If there was a Mount Rushmore for line stacks, the trio of Jordan Kyrou, Dylan Holloway, and Brayden Schenn would be George Washington. This has to be the most profitable stack in the NHL this year. Over the last 10 games, this triple stack has cashed at 60%, and at an average price of +450, that’s a return of +23 units or 130% ROI.

The three skaters have returned to their own power play which is now going over the boards first — ahead of the Robert Thomas-led group. The Blues are coming off a seven-goal game vs. the Ducks so the lineup will not be changed for playoff-chasing St. Louis. If you have a 30% boost at bet365, this is a great spot to use it vs. the Predators.

Brady Tkachuk + Tim Stutzle Over 0.5 points each (+115 at bet365)

I’m looking at some advanced metrics for some Ottawa points today. Only the Panthers have a higher expected goals/60 than Ottawa at all strengths over the last 10 games at 3.59. The Sens are living up the numbers as they are burying 3.66 goals per game (fourth).

On the other side, the Habs have been the luckiest team in hockey over the last 10 games. They have the third-worst expected goals at 3.42 but have been getting bailed out by solid goaltending that has posted a 2.17 GAA. If you’re scoring at home, they should be allowing the third-most goals but are actually giving up the fifth-fewest goals. The dam is going to break and the surging Senators will be the ones to do it.

Although the Dylan Cozens + Drake Batherson stack is +260, I can’t pass up Brady Tkachuk and Tim Stutzle to each get a point at +115. This is a price I’d buy to -115 in this matchup as the pair have pointed in seven of the last eight games since Tkachuk returned to the lineup.

Tkachuk played just 15:21 last time out in a 4-2 win over the Leafs, but that was also his fifth game in eight days. He has been off since Saturday so a return to 18+ minutes is expected today in a massive game in terms of playoff implications for both the Habs and Sens.

Mikael Granlund + Mason Marchment + Matt Duchene Over 0.5 points each (+400 at bet365)

Second-PP combos don’t get enough love and a game at home vs. the Ducks as a -370 ML favorite is a great place to bet them — especially at +400.

The Mason Marchment/Mikael Granlund/Matt Duchene line saw just as much 5-on-5 time as the Hintz/Robertson/Rantanen line on Sunday in a massive game vs. the Avalanche. All but Granlund had a point and the line finished with a 73% xGoal%, with Corsi% and Fenwick% both above 60%.

None of the second-line skaters had more than 17 minutes of ice time, but the PK was busy as the Avs had five power plays for nearly nine minutes.

John Gibson still seems unavailable while Lukas Dostal is coming off a game where he was chased after five goals on 14 shots vs. the Blues. There could be even more PP time in this one if the Stars are running up the score.
