Aleksander Barkov Odds and Props: Home Cooking Boosts the Captain

Aleksander Barkov has been an impact player for the Panthers throughout his career, and while his production has been a mixed bag in the postseason, he's fared far better on home ice. We expect big things in Game 7 vs. the Oilers.

The Florida Panthers and captain Aleksander Barkov will look to avoid being just the second team in Stanley Cup Final history to blow a 3-0 series lead by topping the Edmonton Oilers in Game 7 at Amerant Bank Arena tonight.

Barkov has been more solid than spectacular to this point of the series with two goals, three assists, and a 55.5 Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5. He scored Florida’s only goal in Game 6, and if the Cats captain is going to hoist the Stanley Cup, he’ll have to be an impact player once again. Our Oilers vs. Panthers predictions believe he will be that player.

Here are our free Barkov props and NHL picks for Game 7.

Aleksander Barkov best bets

Over 2.5 shots (+110)

There’s been a notable uptick in shots and attempts from Aleksander Barkov on home ice compared to the road during the postseason. He’s also averaging more ice time at Amerant Bank Arena (21:33 vs. 20:59), including with the man advantage where he’s logged 4:05 per game compared to 3:09 on the highway.

Barkov Home Away
Shots 35 22
Shots per game 2.92 2
Shots per 60 8.12 5.72
Attempts 69 46
Attempts per game 5.75 4.18
Attempts per 60 16 11.95

I also value Barkov having at least two shots in all 12 home games this postseason, and while he’s cleared this total in just half those contests, we’re landing plus-money odds he records three or more for the seventh time. Finally, he failed to reach three shots in each of the first three home games of this series with just six shots on 14 attempts (42.9%), and Barkov converted attempts into shots 52.7% of the time through the first three rounds of the playoffs on home ice.

Aleksander Barkov prop: Over 2.5 shots (+110 at BET99)

Over 0.5 assists (+195)

Similar to Barkov’s shot and attempt volume, he’s also racked up more assists on home ice during the playoffs with 11 across 12 games compared to just three across 11 road contests. I don’t anticipate many power-play opportunities for either team in Game 7, but Barkov also has four PP helpers in addition to the noted uptick in ice time with the man advantage at home this postseason.

Additionally, Barkov is set to center Sam Reinhart and Carter Verhaeghe at 5-on-5, and the two wingers rank fourth and second in goals per 60 minutes and first and fourth in individual expected goals per 60 for the Panthers in the postseason. Additionally, both Reinhart and Verhaeghe have lower shooting percentages during the playoffs than they registered during the regular season.

Aleksander Barkov prop: Over 0.5 assists (+195 at BET99)
