USA vs Canada Prediction, Picks & Odds for Saturday's 4 Nations Face-Off Game

With Canada getting a full game in and USA having a loaded lineup, the fireworks are bound to go off for this 4 Nations Face-Off. Expect those factors to come into play heavily for the total with the offense expected to go goal for goal.

The most anticipated game of the 4 Nations tournament is upon us. Saturday night the tournament’s two marquee teams will duke it out for top spot in the standings.

My USA vs. Canada predictions expect a competitive and high-scoring affair between two international powerhouses.

Let’s take a closer look with my picks for February 15.

My analysis
This game should feature real fireworks offensively.

Canada did not look remotely in-sync for much of their tournament opener against Sweden. Even so, they still managed to score four goals against a team that rosters a loaded blueline and Filip Gustavsson – who ranks 6th in Goals Saved Above Expected and 7th in save percentage – between the pipes.

With a full game under their belt, as well as additional practice time to get on the same page, Canada’s offense should look more fluid Saturday night.

That’s a scary thought for opposing teams. If Canada can score four against an elite opponent with Connor McDavid picking up just one secondary point, and the likes of Sam Reinhart and Cale Makar being held off the scoresheet entirely, the sky's the limit once they find their footing.

Canada will certainly need their offense to hit its full potential as keeping the puck out will be difficult. Jordan Binnington has not had a great season and there were some shaky moments in the tournament opener.

USA’s offense is loaded with firepower and was able to score six goals against Finland while piling up a whopping 18 high-danger chances.

Finland’s defense core is suspect, sure, but Juuse Saros is a high-end goaltender – certainly a tier or two above Binnington – and USA had no problem making him look like Joe from the corner store.

It’s probably unrealistic for Canada to hold this USA team to fewer than three goals. They will need to score to keep up and, with McDavid, Makar, Nathan MacKinnon, and Sidney Crosby leading the charge, there’s plenty of reason to believe they can do just that; even against Connor Hellebuyck.

This should be a high-pace, high-event game featuring a level of elite talent we haven’t seen share the same ice in a long, long, time.

Get your popcorn and enjoy the show.

USA vs Canada same-game parlay (SGP)

Over 6 goals

Canada moneyline

USA put forth a more impressive offensive outing than Canada but against much weaker competition. Defensively, they gave up more.

Sweden was credited with 2.31 expected goals over nearly 70 minutes of hockey against Canada. That included nine minutes of 3v3 play where it was a lot easier to generate offense.

Finland – with much less talent and depth than Sweden – was able to muster up 2.73 expected goals and 10 high-danger chances in regulation against USA.

A strong case could be made Canada has three players better than USA’s best option. Not to mention, the Canadians also have home ice advantage and a crazed crowd behind them.

Look for Canada to pull through in a highly competitive game.
