Chiesa vs Magny Betting Preview
Michael Chiesa comes into this fight as the No. 8-ranked welterweight and has reeled off three straight wins since moving up to the 170-pound division in 2018. The 33-year-old has looked much better at the higher weight class as he may have been sapping too much of his strength by cutting to 155 pounds.
Chiesa looks big and strong at 170 pounds and it's almost shocking to think he competed for years as a lightweight. With a background in wrestling and BJJ, the 33-year-old is a terrific grappler with 11 of his 17 career wins coming by submission.
Neil Magny is No. 9 in the welterweight rankings and is also currently on a three-fight winning streak, most recently a decision victory over Robbie Lawler in August.
The Haitian sensation is 24-7 in his career, including 16-4 in his last 20 UFC fights going back to 2014. Magny is a long and rangy fighter who combines high-volume striking with good clinch work.

Chiesa vs Magny UFC Prediction and Betting Picks
PREDICTION: Magny to win -148 - This fight will really come down to which fighter can impose their style. If Chiesa takes this to the ground, he should have the edge but it's not quite as big of a gap as many seem to think.
Sure, Magny was owned on the ground against Demian Maia, but that was all the way back in 2015 and Maia is one of the greatest submission fighters in UFC history. Magny's BJJ skills have come a long way since then and he has the strength and cardio to not let Chiesa bully him.
As far as standing up goes, Magny should have a big advantage. He has an incredible 80-inch reach, is a much more refined striker both at a distance and in the clinch, has higher output, and a terrific gas tank. Look for Magny to get the W.
PREDICTION: Magny by points +160 - Although Magny is a very technical striker, he doesn't have a whole lot of knockout power and Chiesa will likely look to drag this fight to the mat as often as possible.
With seven of Magny's last nine wins coming by points, including three in a row, look for Magny to win by decision.
PREDICTION: Total Rounds Over 3.5 -188 -While it's true that Magny has been finished on the ground before, all four of his submission losses came within eight minutes of the fight. If Magny can hold his own in the early going, his cardio usually helps him take over fights in the later rounds.
With this bout taking place over five rounds as the main event, Magny should excel as long as he can survive the early takedown and submission attempts of Chiesa. With Chiesa's last two fights going the distance and Magny's last four fights lasting at least 15 minutes, take the total rounds Over 3.5.
