Molly McCann vs. Hannah Goldy is scheduled for three rounds in the flyweight division as a featured attraction on tonight’s edition of UFC Fight Night in London. McCann delivered one of the year’s best stoppages in her last London appearance, so it will be up to Goldy to weather the storm if she hopes to spring the upset.

UFC odds have McCann, the hometown favorite, as a sizeable favorite to come out victorious at -390. Goldy, who will have to overcome a hostile crowd and a size disadvantage, is a +320 betting underdog.

McCann vs Goldy betting preview

McCann put the sting of a two-fight skid behind her, not only winning her last two matches but delivering a beautiful spinning elbow KO to Luana Carolina last March. She hopes to put on another show for the O2 crowd as she continues to climb her way up the flyweight rankings.

With the crowd fully behind her, McCann hopes to build on the momentum generated by the Carolina KO and move on to bigger fights. “Meatball” is known for putting her opponents through the grinder. She lands 5.83 significant strikes per minute and has found success in takedowns recently, scoring four takedowns in her last two fights.

A brawler at heart, McCann is at her best using her footwork and boxes well on the outside. With the crowd energizing her, she’ll have to balance work with play to keep her tough opponent at bay. Goldy is taking a perceived step up in class, but if she’s ready, then she’ll be a handful for the hometown girl.

Taking fights between strawweight and flyweight, she’s a high-energy striker that has solid takedown defense and a propensity for making exciting fights. Her last fight was a first-round submission win over Emily Whitmire last September. She exceeds more landed strikes than McCann at 6.05 significant strikes per minute and can keep the fight standing by stuffing 50% of takedown attempts.

“24K” tends to be reckless with her offense, but she has a lot of heart and never stops coming. This is going to be a tough night for Goldy, who simply hasn’t succeeded at this level and will be facing a hostile crowd and size disadvantage. If McCann doesn’t go headhunting and can box intelligently, she’ll avoid a desperate charge from her foe.

Goldy isn’t coming to London to lie down, but she won’t last if she can’t get the jump on McCann.

McCann vs Goldy UFC prediction and best bet

Our prediction is compiled from the analysis of the fighters and is an indication of who we are leaning with to win this bout.
Our best bet is the play that we like the most for this fight or where the most value lies, and is where we would put some of our bankroll behind.

The biggest advantage McCann has here is her experience and quality of work. Goldy has been floating between the two divisions but hasn’t put forth a meaningful win thus far. She’s tough, but McCann’s size and skill advantages are going to be too much for her to overcome.

A path for the upset comes solely in banking on McCann being distracted by the bright lights and the loud crowd, which didn’t affect her against a better opponent. Should McCann stay off the ground and keep her back off the octagon, she’ll have a target that comes forward and pulls straight back. We’ll see right away that Goldy is going to be an open book for McCann.

McCann is one of the biggest favorites on the card, and we don’t see any avenue for an upset. At -390, though, the value will be found outside of the moneyline.

Prediction: McCann moneyline (-390 at DraftKings)

McCann is in a situation where she is overequipped and highly motivated to succeed. Her size, striking, and fighting in front of a home crowd will factor into another dominant performance.

Try as Goldy might, she’ll play right into McCann’s game plan, and her inability to score takedowns will see her get overwhelmed on the feet. With McCann a massive favorite, we’re gunning for her to pull out all the stops for another sensational performance and score a stoppage before the fight is over.

Pick: McCann to win by KO/TKO/DQ (+400 at DraftKings)
