Rodriguez vs Ribas Betting Preview
Marina Rodriguez is the No. 6 contender in the women's strawweight division and is fresh off a split-decision loss to Carla Esparza last July. She is 2-1-2 since making her UFC debut in 2018, with a pair of rare draws and every fight going to the judge's cards.
Rodriguez is a very good kickboxer with a Muay Thai background and she is very effective in the clinch. The 33-year-old lands 5.82 significant strikes per minute, while absorbing just 3.27.
Amanda Ribas enters this fight as the No. 14-ranked strawweight and is coming off an impressive first-round submission win over the hugely popular Paige VanZant. She now has five wins in a row, including four under the UFC banner.
The 27-year-old Brazilian grew up learning how to fight under the tutelage of her father, a renowned BJJ trainer. She is best known for her grappling and submission skills but is also a technically proficient striker.

Rodriguez vs Ribas UFC Prediction and Betting Pick
PREDICTION: Rodriguez to win +270 - Ribas has a strong trajectory and has looked very good since entering the UFC. That said, it's a bit strange to see this line so lopsided with the higher-ranked fighter installed as a big underdog, despite having faced better competition.
Rodriguez is coming off a pair of close performances against Top-5 ranked strawweights like Esparza and Cynthia Calvillo. Sure, Ribas has rolled through her UFC opponents, but VanZant, Randa Markos and Emily Whitmire are mediocre fighters—so it's hard to put too much stock in that.
Ribas' most impressive victory came against Mackenzie Dern and while she put on a striking clinic in that fight, it's worth mentioning that Dern was just four months removed from giving birth and didn't look anywhere near 100 percent.
Ribas definitely has a big edge when it comes to grappling but Rodriguez has excellent Muay Thai, along with impressive power for her weight class. Although Ribas should be the favorite, -355 is too steep for what should be a closer fight than oddsmakers and the public seem to think. Back the underdog at +270.
