Love your analysis.... you did forget one HUGE factor for PSU
SEAN LEE is back and playing!!!! That will be huge for the linebackers.... Navarro Bowman is facing some legal troubles but should be okay to go through...
Watch out for this name Gerald Hodges, is a Saftey who PSU is loving. They are comparing him to Scroitto with a much better ceiling and better hitter. He is going to be nasty this year as a True Frosh I believe. Guy can do it all. He layed out i believe Derek Moye in the Blue/White game as he came over the middle and leaped for a catch. The kid has nastyyy intensity!
Also. Stefon Green is still recovering from a leg injury from the Rose Bowl.. He will be fine to go for the season but in the mean time Brandon Beachem is getting all of the carries with Royster. Royster is lookign like a monster thsi year already. He should be in the Heisman finalists this year if PSU leans on him early and often which should be the case.
Another name to watch out for is Chaz Powell is a Soph WR, They are using him exactly like D-Will the last few years. He is just as quick, and probably has better hands. Does he have the gamebreaking ability? Time will tell....
The OL should be better than last year. JOEPA loves this new OL and they should be strong as usuall.
I have PSU at 11-1, because I cannot ever say 12-0 because PSU seems to lose somewhere it shouldnt.

The point is this team is overrated but very well could go undefeated with that ridiculous schedule and be playing in the NC game. And they won't deserve it.
No argument there, but the point is that until we get some type of playoff system, the National Championship is going to be an election, and undefeated teams in the BCS go to the head of the class, no matter what type of schedule they play.
Penn State will end up being overrated, unless they slip somewhere along the way to their showdown with Ohio State. The Big 10 is not a good conference. They cannot compete with the SEC, Big 12,or Pac 10, and the ACC probably has passed them also. But, we are stuck with what we have.

Trouble at Georgia. Starting TE Bruce Figgins has been suspended for 6 games for undisclosed team violations. DE Justin Houston has been suspended for two games. Are the wheels starting to fall off at UGA?

Totally agree. They lose to Florida in the SEC, and Okie State and Georgia Tech non-con. They may lose another SEC game to LSU, though they get them at home. The rest of their SEC schedule is pretty soft.

I do not think you posted your predicted record for UNC yet. They go to Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech. The Va.Tech game is a week after hosting Florida State. They also finish on the road against Boston College and N.C. State, a team that they have not defeated in two years.

I still have to post MY UNC defenseive breakdown and schedule
Yeah the ACC is tuff sledding .... North Carolina could easily lose 4+ games ... but I really like the defense , especially the front 7.... and think 10-2 seems about right ...

I agree 8-4 is what I am guessing for now ... even with a Win in Stillwater the Dawgs have some tuff games on tap and 3+ seems really likely ... ...
I was shocked to see you thinking USC will lose 4 games ... While the Trojans lose alot from LY they usually just reolad ...

The problem I have with USC is this. They always had a well balanced offense. They do not have that now. They do not have a proven QB with a great arm. Their offense may become too one dementional, namely the run.
Next, we have a brand new defense, with ne game to be tested in, (at home against a patsy) before a trip to Columbus. On top of all that, they play all of their tough gameson the road, and all of them before November 1st. 6 out of their first 9 games are on the road, including Cal, Oregon, Notre Dame, and the above mentioned Ohio State. Every one of those games is a huge grudge and revenge game for the opponents. Notre Dame and the Pac 10's entire season is made or lost by winning or losing to USC. Coaches get contract extensions in the Pac 10 if they beat SC. You are a genius if you can beat Pete Carroll. Back in 06, Karl Dorrell at UCLA was about to be fired. By beating USC, he kept his job. The next year he lost to USC, and he was gone. It is that big of a deal in the Pac 10.

Bigdaddy- Are you looking at the NC?CrimiNoles game as a possible look ahead or a let down win. Also remember, the VaTech/NC game is Thurs night football now. Should also be for the Coastal Div. and a spot in the ACC title game.
Double- Whats the * next to RU for?
Also- I think NC will lose 2 games. AT GT, and NCST

I know this would take some effort, but if we get me you bigdaddy a nd a few other solid cappers each week during the reg season making a B10, B12, SEC etc Thread with all the games and jus type a few sentences on the games we are playing from there and why.. could be a great way to help us all out.. what you think?

There is a good chance undefeated Penn St gets passed by a one loss Texas, OK, Florida, or USC.
I would hope so, and I would be all for that, but I really don't think that would happen.
The national media still thinks the little-10 is up there with those conferences, and then you got the Joe Pa. bs, thus my statement on this team always being overrated and over ranked.
Maybe they would get passed if there is one other undefeated but not if they are the only undefeated. imo.
I hope you are correct thorpe but I don't see it.

There is no chance what-so-ever. Do you know anything about the computer part of the BCS? The computer automatically takes away points for a loss. It is impossible for a team to make those points up against another BCS team. The formula's simply will not allow it. It is an automatic. If a BCS team has less losses than another BCS team, they automatically rank ahead of that team. It is also an unwritten law in the polls. You do not vote a BCS undefeated team lower than a 1 loss team. Look at Ohio State back in '06. They played a schedule that our local Juco team could have gone 6-6 against and naturally went undefeated. They were dogs in the NC game against Florida, and got their tails kicked. But they were the #1 team going into that game. Those are the rules. That is the way the game is played.

That is hard to say. UNC does get 12 days to think about the game. It is on a Thrusday Night. Who know what Florida State will do? Talk about an unpredictable team. If Florida State is in the thick of things, you do not have to worry about a look ahead situation. If not, then it may come into play.
