I really don't see Georgia having a shot to win 10 games honestly.  They will lose in my opinion to Oklahoma State week 1, maybe S.C week 2 at home.  Week 3 @ Arkansas this team could very easily start the season 0-3 with ASU coming to town. 

They play @ TENN, VANDY, AND FLORIDA in 4 weeks in consecutive games.  I really don't see a win in there.  Thats 6 losses already.  Now we have Tenn Tech, Auburn and Kentucky all at home think they go 3-0 in those.  Georgia Tech might be the deciding factor if this team goes to a bowl or not.

I think the key game is week 1 if they can beat Okie State which I don't think they can in fact I say they lose by 14+

The other key is the LSU game at home before the 3 road games in a row.  If this team manages to win 10 games they will be a team that I will bet on all season.  6 wins maybe a bowl game maybe not.

First off, keep up the work and its nice to be able to talk about football  during the offseason.

Let me address a few of the things you said about Georgia that I think are a little bit off base. 

The O line is far from the weakness on the Georgia team, as a matter of fact I would say it is one of the strengths.  Sturdivant will be back before the season starts at LT.   Even without him they have 1 of the strongest O lines in the SEC.  The O line last year was major patchwork and they still came in 2nd in the SEC in sacks allowed (tied with Florida).  At some point during the season nearly every starter was out at some time and they still managed to do extremely well.  As far as I'm concerned, they have 1 of the best lines in the SEC . 

I will agree with what you said about the pass rush on defense.  A couple of things that will help them out ALOT.

-Jeff Owens will be back before game 1.  He is a 1st round defensive prospect (may slip out of the 1st since he had a knee injury).  He was out all of last year and he is very important to the D line. 
-Justin Houston will be starting a DE.  He was a true frosh last year and didnt get much playing time. If you saw him during the G day game you know what I am talking about. He has been lighting up the O line the hole spring. 




Almost all of the players that are injured will be back before game 1.

 The one player that is going to hurt is Kris Durham (WR).  He was the vet WR of the group and he will be out for the year.  He is def. replaceable as far as talent, but he was the vet of the group so that might hurt them.  AJ Green is still the man in Athens though.


I will agree with a 9 win season and I won't be shocked if they pull out 10-11.  The key is going to be the running backs getting some production.  I expect them to be a litte bit more run heavy than they were last year.  Joe Cox is not a Joe Tereshinski.  He is a smart QB who can make alot of the throws and will be smart with the ball.  He WILL be the starter for the season unless there is a injury.  Aaron Murray and Mettenburger will be battling for 3rd stringer.  Logan Grey will be the back up and I expect them to have a couple of packages for him to get in the game and use his athleticism.

You better look them over a little better.  @Okie st, @ Florida are the 2 I see as being losses. The rest of the games I would expect them to be favored to win with the exception of possibly @ GT.  They could very easily win 9 games and still have a shot at 10-11.  Mark Richt has won atleast 8 games every year since has been at Georgia.  His teams have done exceptionally well with low expectations entering the season.

NO8 - good points made, just the schedule sets up so bad for this team.  Like I said if they win 10 games they should get a BCS game.  Last years team was supposed to be much better, lets put it this way your starting QB from last year will be the #1 player selected in the Draft.  Your RB from last year will be a first round pick as well, maybe the first RB taken.  So replacing them is a must.  First off @ OKIE State against a very experienced team this could be very very ugly for Georgia.  Sorry NO8 just don't see it, the schedule is brutal.  If they win 8 games it will be a success in my opinion.  I'm thinking 5 or 6.

I'm not going to take a deeper look at Georgia unitl later on.  From what I know about this team and others just don't see them being very good.  I did predict Georgia to be in the National Championship last year.  Honestly thought 2 years ago they were the best team in the country to end the regular season.  I just think this team will go through a lot of growing pains and struggle.  But with the recruiting classes they have had I don't see them being down long.  This year might be tough for Georgia fans.  It is hard to realize sometimes, I know when the Irish went 3-9 I certainly didn't think that was ever possible.  I'm sticking with my early guns and saying 6-6 for Georgia.  That might change after I look at the team more and all, but as of now I just don't see how they get more than 6.

Matt Stafford was not all he was cracked up to be at Georgia.  You can easily make the case for David Greene being a good bit better @ Georgia than Stafford was. 

I'm still not following how the schedule sets up bad for them.  Yes they have 1 rather tough team OOC to play in Okie st, which I think they will prob. lose too.   Please show me the 6 losses on the schedule.

Okie State, Florida, Tennessee, LSU, Arkansas, Georgia Tech.

Maybe Vandy, Tennessee, ASU won't be an easy task either.

QB  I think Having Joe Cox step in that there won't be much of a drop off from Stafford IMO ... That being said Stafford is one of the more Overrated QB's I have seen in years ... I still can't believe he might go first overall..... Logan Gray has excellent Speed and reminds me of DJ Shockley a little ..Maybe he provides a change of pace >>??
 
RB  Pint Sized Burner 5-7 170 Carlton Thomas might steal the Spotlight this year ... He has looked great in Spring Practices...
Caleb King SO PS#7 should begin the year as the Starter and see ample carries all year ... Plenty of depth but both top recruits from a year ago are Limping in the Spring  ...
 
WR  AJ Green set Georgia Fr. records last year catching 56 Balls for 963 Yards and should help ease Cox in at QB... Micheal Moore had a very good bowl Game and should take over the Load for Massaquoi...Tavvares King RFR PS#6 should also factor in ...
 
OL  So Many injuries last year forced 3 FR into action ... ...
 all return 5 Starters return ...The O-Line had some Bad Games vs the Better teams last year ... Too Many So. and Fr. in the 2 deep for my Liking ... This Unit might Make or break the Dawgs in 2009...
 
DL    Love the Tackles ..Kade Weston and Geno Atkins ...
The Ends will need to step up this year after failing to get in the Backfield enough in 2008...All 4 DE's have been Missing Practices this Spring
 
LB  is Loaded ..
Rennie Curran had 115 Tackles last season and could be an All American this year.....Darryl Gamble might be a Rush End as well as Starting at OLB... Akeem Dent returns at MLB...
 
Secondary
Reshad Jones and Bryan Evans are excellent Safeties ..
Prince Miller will need to step up and be a Lock down Corner with Asher Allen playing on Sundays this year...
 
I am a Big Fan of Mark Richt and he has plenty of talent to work with ... The Injury Bug needs to stay away this seaon after bitting the Dawgs early and Often in 208...The Schedule is very tough IMO and any hope of Winning 10+ games will depend on the O-Line and the Pass rush ...

Excellent job Double.  Imho, Iowa will finish at least third, if not 2nd in the B10.  Iowa didn't get blown out by anybody last year, lost 4 games by a total of 12 points, mostly because they were unsetled at QB during this time.  Stanzi imroved immensly during his first year as a starter.  He has a solid arm and his fakes were as good as anyones.  He never got rattled, and was VERY durable...never got injured.  Leads with a quiet confidence.  Team really rallied around him and respeted his resolve.  May just end up being one of the best QB's in the league this year. With most everyone back on O (Not a huge difference between J. Hamptn and Shon Greene) and  StudTE Tony Moecki is healthy now (starter b4 injury), that is basically 10 guys back on off.  Iowa did get some WR's too, only lost Brodell.  Yeah, those 2 DT's will be missed (Kraul and King), but just about everyone else returns.  Angerer is a STUD at LB... so was LB AJ Edds.  This could very well be the top lb dou in the league.  .Just don't see IA's D having to be on the field all that often.  Iowa is more than capable of beating MSU (who lose Hoyer and Ringer) and Wisc, who they always play tough, and have a winning record against this decade.  Possible upset of PSU.  Iowa's coaching staf have been together for many years, which makes preperation much more seamless and effective.  Plus the momentum of a dominating win against SEC team South Carolina in their bowl game, where Stanzi was effective.  Iowa could realistically go 10 - 2, or 9- 3.  Jmho.  This will be Iowa's year, if Hampton and Stanzi stay healthy.

You have some excellent Insight ...

While the Defense has looked great this spring it did allow 38+ Points 5 Times last year

We will just have to disagree about the O_line . 

I only have them Losing 1 for sure (florida) but I do have them playing in 5 Coin Flip games and think 3 Wins out of those 5 is the best you can ask for ...

I will be Looking forward to talking football with you all year Brother

I also think the best thing to do is fade teams teams in the beginning of the yr. I will be the 1s to admit that I loved this uga team last yr, mostly because my boy from middletown south, Moreno. I like everything else, but the dawgs should at least lose 1 of, if not 2, of the road games @ Tenn, Vandy, or Ark.

Yeah Georgia had alot of Hype last year with good reason ... That sec schedule is always tuff... Wonder what the Dawgs would have done if the Injuries didnt blast them ... The Gators should be Laying a ton of Points this year ,,,onyl having 4 true road games ... Very hard for me to Fade a Coach that Loves to run it up... that being said Sept 26 they travel to Kentucky,  maybe 21+ would do there ...

hate to break the answer to the ? for everyone, but the reason for Iowa's great season, was the same from uga, uconn. A kid from jersey running the ball who is gone

Georgia is very tough to figure out.  No excuse for the fiasco against Ga. Tech last year.  They could go 8-4 or 10-2.  We think they lose to Oklahoma State and Florida, but have a shot against LSU at home, and Ga.Tech away, where they have won the last 4 meeting played there.  9-3 certainly is possible for this team.

I wouldn't be too quick to mark down OK St as a loss for Georgia.  Remember, OK St plays almost no defense, so if Georgia's defense shows up and their QB doesn't make mistakes  they could very well win that game.   Right now, I'd give them a 2 in 5 chance to win...

D4Life..... Jo cox is Horrible Buddy... Huge Drop off In QB... Arm Strength is not even Close...with the Pro Style offense Georgia runs.. The QB Must Be Able to Put The Ball in Tight Windows.. You Know I Say Things To Only Help us all Not hate.. With That Being said Georgia Will Struggle IMO... I See 7-5...

BTW... Oklahoma S.T Will Be Returning Most of ALL The Starters And IMO Will Have The Most Explosive Offense in the Country this year.  Georgia Will Struggle Very Much Slowing them Down.. (Big Bet On Oklahoma S.T For Me.. )

We will do into more detail about Okie State later on, but suffice it to say that they get Texas and Texas Tech at home, and OU away in the last game of the season.  This could be the best chance that Okie State has of winning the Big 12 for a long time.  National Championship implications are involved,and Okie State is not going to throw that away in the first game of the season at home.  Georgia is in trouble.

4 SR. Starters anchor the Line... But Depth is a big Concern with 7 Backups being either So. or Fr..

The Defense gave up yards in Bunches last year  387 Yards per game with 242 coming through the Air.
 
The D-Line should be much better this year with Leroy Burgess and Alan Micheal-Cash being key run stuffers
 
The LB's and secondary have plenty of Talent but will need to make a Huge jump from last year although forcing turnovers were not a Problem

WAY too high for (probably)...6-7 th best team in ACC....
IF....they had 17+ starters returning ....+ GREAT recruiting class (52nd rivals) + maybe Brown back (t baker's last game was sept 2007...Eugene ok though) + totally healthy AND focused QB....(focus now is BASEBALL....misses tuesdays ...and get's only  1 hour in on sat.....ACC will be too strong next year for them to mount charge probably.....although 8-4 possible....7-5 more likely and not bad

While the Defense has looked great this spring it did allow 38+ Points 5 Times last year

We will just have to disagree about the O_line . 

I only have them Losing 1 for sure (florida) but I do have them playing in 5 Coin Flip games and think 3 Wins out of those 5 is the best you can ask for ...

I think a major piece missing from the puzzle last year for the defense was leadership.  Jeff Owens was the leader and still is and he will be back before game 1.  He is 1st round talent and him and Geno Atkins will make up 1 of the best inside D lines in the nation.  The front 7 aren't the question for me on defense, its the secondary for me.  Bryan Evans is a cornerback who converted to Safety this year.  Everything coming out of Georgia is he is doing very well, but we will see what happens with that.  Rashad Jones was a very highly touted safety and he made alot of big plays last year.  He is moving to the strong side (he played free safety last year), so that will be another question mark.  Brandon Boykin and Prince Miller will be starting at corner unless the new highly touted true frosh Branden Smith takes over 1 of the spots in the fall(which i highly doubt he will, even though he is training with Champ Bailey). He will more than likely be battling out with Sanders Commings for nickelback.  With Jeff owens coming back it should free up some of the pass rushers on the end and help this defense out ALOT.  I agree with everything you said about the coin flip games. Florida is a for sure loss, Okie st, LSU, GT are the coin flips. 



whodeys-  Arkansas and Tennesee games will be wins.  No question in my mind.  Arkansas will be alot better this year with Mallet playing QB, but Tennesee has miles to go.
