That is the dumbest idea possible. If he cannot pay you $2000, why would you expect him to pay more if you keep winning?
I had two guys book together who stiffed me 1K many years ago. Both bastards said they just took bets and the other guy owed. I finally gave up trying to collect. It sounds as though your so called friend never called in the bets. Either way, I would find out who owes me and harrass the shit out of them till they start paying me something in good faith.

i would like to say that you handled this situation well (except for betting through him again). my guess is that 2000 is an enormous amount of money to most of these jackoffs, and they were willing to go through more trouble then it was worth in reality. im glad the man paid up and you got a thanksgiving present.
