Santa Claus = Be good, get presents. Be bad, get nothing.
God = Be good, go to heaven. Be bad, go to hell...
Santa is not real but still he is a good and just imaginary character.
God is real and He is real good and just!

To the atheits,
We are talking about Christianity here.
Hypothetically, if you on this site converted people from beleiving to non believing, what are the benefits of this to you?
We have seen that atheists have murdered others JUST like theists in the past (although no where near on the same level, but that is another argument).
We have seen atheists rape, steal, lie, adultery, etc etc etc, just like theists.
We have seen athieists just like theists, donate, help the poor, etc etc, on the same level, i dont know, but that is another discussion.
I cant talk about others, but i can talk about myself.
There are many things in my life i could have gotten away with, but i didnt go through it because of my "God Consience", ie, i believe God is watching and if no other human is watching me, i eventually wont get away with it because of my belief. If i didnt have a belief, i cant say what i would have done, but, i cant speculate on that, because i do, and that caused me to behave the way i did.
I strive every day to follow the 10 commandments, even though i fall short, that is the benchmark to which i strive to.
I have seen married couples who are Christians not cheat on each other because of there beliefs, i have also seen Chrsitian couples who cheat on each other....
Believers and non believers , in terms of how they act, still sin.
So, one cant look at the other and say one group of people are better than others, ie, all atheists are better people than believers or vice a verce.
The fundamental difference is in the belief of an afterlife....I am purely speaking on Christianity here.
If a believer believes they are going to an afterlife after they die, what is it to you and why are you so determined to tell them they are wrong?
Once they die, and there if there is no afterlife, are they going to hold atheists accountable for not telling them the truth OR not trying hard enough? Are the theists going to tell you off or be jelous of you after they die because you knew the truth all along?
I once got in trouble because i inadvertantly told my 2 year old nephew that Santa is fake, by pure accident, he got upset and cried. Yes, he had to initially live through that lie, ie, he was alive and consience when he hears the truth, but with atheism, there is no benefit whatsover to try and convince believers there is no afterlife...
We have already established, that group are NOT necessarily better people than others...If someone is going to murder, cheat, lie or steal, they will do it no matter what.....In terms of my own experience, if i didnt believe in God, i think i would try and "get away with" alot more than i do.....but this is just personal experience and not the main discussion point....
There is no benefit to you whatsoever, scientists are always going to try and discover the universe, humanity etc etc etc......
So, what is in it for you......?

hypothetically, lets imagine SJD thought he was going to recieve a bundle of cash, and he was planning on spending that cash on a car, etc etc, he was really excited about recieving this cash. Lets also suppose i KNOW for a fact that SJD isnt going to recieve this money. Me, as fellow human being, feel obliged to tell SJD that his belief that he is going to recieve a bundle of cash is wrong. I cant stand that he thinks he is believing a lie....The reason why i cant stand it is because i will feel upset when he REALISES this is a lie, there will be an emotional letdown, anger, hurt, embarrased, feel betrayed etc etc etc....
They are all the emotions he will FEEL when he realises the truth, this is the ONLY reason why i feel obliged to tell him, so he can get a gentle letdown and so he can change his life accordingly because he was already planning his life after he got the money.
But with atheism, what is the benefit, do you feel obliged to tell theists there is no afterlife because the theist will feel let down, angry, betrayed once they realise the truth? lololol..
There is absolutely NO REASON for the atheists to tell the theist there is no afterlife.. So why do you try and do it?

Yes, they would immediately abandon their beliefs because you are showing them evidence and concrete proof that harry was just a ficticious made up imaginary character written by one author, J.K. Rowling.
Furthermore with the passage of only 30 years gone by with this fabricated lie, it certainly wouldn't be hard for these kids to accept the reality that it was just a hoax, especially when the ones who told them the lie in the first place now come forth and explain to them it was just a lie and not true.
It's the same as when parents tell their young ones about Santa being for real and then later in life when kids grow up they find out Santa wasn't real after all.
But in the case of the Holy Bible no one can possibly tell us today with evidence and concrete proof that the Holy Bible is not the Word of God.
The first book of the Holy Bible was written approx. 3,400 years ago. The Bible may look like one book, but it is actually sixty-six rolled into one. Thirty-nine books make up what we call the Old Testament, and twenty-seven make up the New Testament.
God uses many authors-as many as forty-over a time-period of many centuries to write the sixty-six books of the Bible. This makes each book unique.
So there could not possibly be any kind of conspiracy that through all these centuries these authors were purposely deceiving the people with lies. These authors were inspired by God to write these books which are the truth.
With all that said, your analogy is pretty weak kk and your point has no strong basis, so you just can't make the assumption that religion is just made up lies.
The Holy Bible has a long history and has been consistent all along and so even though each book has its own style and character, each one contributes to God's life changing message. What is that message? Through the Bible, God makes it clear that He loves us and has a plan to save us from the destructive power of sin.

Correct....
I think the main reason that religion is dangerous is that it makes man think he has answers he doesn't truly have.
What are the implications if i think God created the universe and there is an afterlife, meaning that if i live a good life according to the 10 commandments, i will be rewarded. If i believe God created the universe, is that going to make a worse person? Am i going to stop trying to find out the cause of the universe because of my belief? I will never be smart enough and neither will 99.99% of the population to find the scientific reason for the universe.
And for me, religion isn't necessary to establish a "moral" code. It's quite simple, really... if you don't think you'd appreciate an action leveled upon you, you should not do that action yourself. I think if all people followed this one tenet (the Golden Rule as it's called in Christianity), the world would be a better place not just for us, but for future generations as well. I don't think religion is at all necessary to have a just and habitable planet of human beings.
We have already established that athests are not better better people than theists, vice a verse....So we have established, that one group is not better than the other...
I do agree that it may not be necessary to convince people there is no god, no afterlife, etc. But I have a problem with people who try to tell me they KNOW there is a god or they KNOW there is an afterlife. I also have other problems with religion in that for some reason or another they harbor corruption, discrimination, and in some cases disdain for other cultures, but we won't speak about that for now because that's not the intent of most religious doctrines (except of course Islam which I find abhorrent).
Remember, no group is better than the other, we are all equally guilty. Everyone knows belief in God is based on faith. No one can say they know for certain.
I can't fault you for thinking there is a god or a place we go after this world ends. If that is what it takes for you to live a good life, then do it. But you need to also understand that there is no real reason for other to believe those same things. There is no real evidence for such a belief I'm sorry to say.
Well, the reason i am on here, is because of my belief is based on saving others, there is a real reason for me to try and convince others as stated in my religion, but there is no benefit for the atheist to try and convince the theist as i have stated.
I don't really like insulting you because you have BY FAR the most intellect of anyone arguing your point of view, and I appreciate that you broke down for a moment and admitted valid points for both sides of the argument. But at the end of the day, I don't see any reason to believe, nor do I see the necessity of OTHERS to believe, because I am an agnostic and I still do good deeds and treat people as I'd like to be treated. That is my point
and that is my point, this may sound biased, but logically, the atheist OR agnostic should listen to me with open ears as we both know, if there is God, then we will ALL benefit by you lot listening to me, so really, one should take the information on board and decide for themselves, if they dont agree, then they should walk away, but logically, there is no benefit to anyone id the atheist tries to convince the theist.
One thing that irritates me is that KK and System seem to think that Jesus Christ teaches us to kill. They seem to think, if people commit atrocities int he name of Christianity, then Christianity taught them this....It will be like me going around and raping everyone then saying i do so because i am atheist...makes no sense....People can commit whatever they want then explain what caused them to do it, but if no connection can be established, then the reasoning is flawed. They cant get there heads around this...
Correct....

and that is my point, this may sound biased, but logically, the atheist OR agnostic should listen to me with open ears as we both know, if there is God, then we will ALL benefit by you lot listening to me, so really, one should take the information on board and decide for themselves, if they dont agree, then they should walk away, but logically, there is no benefit to anyone id the atheist tries to convince the theist.
