The following definition of atheism was given to the Supreme Court of the United States in the case of Murray v. Curlett, 374 U.S. 203, 83 S. Ct. 1560, 10 L.Ed.2d (MD, 1963), to remove reverential Bible reading and oral unison recitation of the Lord's Prayer in the public schools:

“Your petitioners are atheists and they define their beliefs as follows. An atheist loves his fellow man instead of god. An atheist believes that heaven is something for which we should work now – here on earth for all men together to enjoy.

An atheist believes that he can get no help through prayer but that he must find in himself the inner conviction and strength to meet life, to grapple with it, to subdue it, and enjoy it.

An atheist believes that only in a knowledge of himself and a knowledge of his fellow man can he find the understanding that will help to a life of fulfillment.

He seeks to know himself and his fellow man rather than to know a god. An atheist believes that a hospital should be built instead of a church. An atheist believes that a deed must be done instead of a prayer said. An atheist strives for involvement in life and not escape into death. He wants disease conquered, poverty vanquished, war eliminated. He wants man to understand and love man.

He wants an ethical way of life. He believes that we cannot rely on a god or channel action into prayer nor hope for an end of troubles in a hereafter.

He believes that we are our brother's keepers and are keepers of our own lives; that we are responsible persons and the job is here and the time is now.”

I'd rather be playing D&D.

Yeah and who gets to decide which is what? Whoever is reading it that's who. While you may consider genesis poetry, these people don't.

These people claim the bible is 100% true and literal ALL the way through.

So i guess what you were taught is to cherry pick the bible to make it comfortable enough for you to believe it. Gotcha.

https://www.answersingenesis.org/about/faith

The following are held by members of the Board of Answers in Genesis to be either consistent with Scripture or implied by Scripture.

1. Scripture teaches a recent origin for man and the whole creation, spanning approximately 4,000 years from creation to Christ.
2. The days in Genesis do not correspond to geologic ages, but are six [6] consecutive twenty-four [24] hour days of creation.
3. The Noachian Flood was a significant geological event and much (but not all) fossiliferous sediment originated at that time.
4. The gap theory has no basis in Scripture.
5. The view, commonly used to evade the implications or the authority of biblical teaching, that knowledge and/or truth may be divided into secular and religious, is rejected.
6. By definition, no apparent, perceived or claimed evidence in any field, including history and chronology, can be valid if it contradicts the scriptural record. Of primary importance is the fact that evidence is always subject to interpretation by fallible people who do not possess all information.

Gotcha.

So I'm supposed to be convinced by you using Ad Populum logical fallacy? Don't make me laugh...Try this, the majority of the world is not christian, so Christianity is wrong.
to you a non-believer well of course it's going to be silly nonsense.
Correct, the only problem is why it's not silly nonsense to you as well.

Nope you are misguided by Satan, he put Christianity here to trick you into believing impossible for no good reason. In turn, you live your whole life in a fantasy land and never get to see the world for what it truly is because your goal is some imaginary afterlife you will never get. Meanwhile the non believers will have passed God's test of using our brains to think about what is being presented and realizing that Christianity is bullshit.  Then we will be rewarded with eternal blowjobs and jolly ranchers. I'm telling you that Satan is a tricky bastard!!!

Its called using your brain.....Passages state "Jesus opens doors".....Does that mean he is literally standing there opening doors all day? The bible also states that "you should cut off your right hand if it causes you to sin", do you think God wants everyone to be walking about with no right hand?

Use your God given brains. The bible is a COLLECTION of different books put together.

I have been nothing but consistent in my critique of your reasoning skills, and the garbage you put forth as passing for rational argument. You can assume all you want, but you sir are a dumb f$%^. Your drivel does not move forward your argument that you have conclusive proof of god's existence. You are most certainly an embarrassment to your own sworn cause. Whether or not I am "angry" is irrellevant. The fact you are a dumb @$$ does make your arguments in their entirety useless.

There you go again........Do you think when professional debaters, philosophers and scientists go up to debate about Gods existence they respond wth "dumbass", "loser" etc etc?

Not once have you rebuked any argument, NONE, NOTHING...

You only add personal insults, thats all you do....The reason you do it is because you have no answer, that is fact. Everyone here can see it......

Many of my arguments come from philosophers, Historians, scientists and doctors and you are saying "dumbass"?????

Take a good look at yourself, you only are making a real fool of yourself with this emotional hatred you possess of believers....

Whats wrong, God didnt give you what you wanted as a child? All your friends have better lives than you and its Gods fault?....

I think this sums up Jagerfury intelligence level.  He repeatedly called me a racist towards minorities and people of color. Why? When did I ever make a statement against people of color. When I asked him to explain why he would say that. His only response was basically that that's what I was. A racist because I hated people of color.  The kicker is Jagerfury in all his wisdom and intelligence never thought I was African-American and therefore assumed I was racist simply because I believe in God. I think this pretty much sums up his intelligence level. Assumptive Bullshit. His view is that he assumes he has all the answers and the reality is he really knows nothing. So to hide his ignorance he attacks people and tries to bully them. It's a smoke screen for his own lack of any intelligent thinking and is only repeating lines that he has been spoon fed by others who are just as weak minded as him.
This explains his complete incapability of ever answering a question directly but instead only offering insults or "attaboys" to others who have spoken for the atheist point of view.

You are definitely confused. You are contradicting yourself...non believers do not believe in God or satan...

unless you are showing signs of slowly converting yourself but of course there is a whole lot more work for you before you truly start walking into the righteous path of the Lord!....you see God and Christianity go hand in hand, the Christian bible is the Word of God which is the truth.

My brain isn't God given but I've used to determine there is no reason to accept any of that silly nonsense.

Yes, i understand it's collection of different books put together that you cherry pick and decide which ones to take literal and which ones not to. The funny thing is the most silly event of all of them you think really happened!

This is a true sign of psychosis. When an atheist can question how a theist interprets the bible that they say they don't believe in. How can you honestly question someone else's interpretation of a document that for one you know very little about and two you don't believe in. Incredible the hypocrisy that comes from some people.

So, if you don't believe something you must leave all your reasoning skills at the door, and keep your logical conclusions to yourself?

What a load of rubbish. Because I do not believe in something doesn't mean I lose the ability to critique it. I don't believe people rise from the dead. I don't now not have a seat at the table telling dumb f#$%'s such as yourself that a dead person rising from the grave is, given the best information we humans have been able to gather, not possible.

The problem with a debate with you "believers" is having to start from a first grade level.
I'd rather be playing D&D.

A statement is not invalid if it contains sarcasm dumb f#$%. Sarcasm is a literary device.  Like when you were first taught sarcasm through the essay "A Modest Proposal". Really, the education level of the "believers" is sooooo prohibitive to debate. But what would you expect from someone touting their "christian" beliefs on a gambling, soft porn site...

He explained how the Pentecost miracle would occur in their minds - and can in ours.

There is a reason why a miracle of understanding and faith must occur in our minds. We are what the Bible calls "fleshly" beings. We understand only what our eyes, ears and other physical organs bring to our mind. We grasp only human purposes and actions. But God is Spirit. His ways, character and purposes cannot be understood unless He grants us a miracle of additional understanding (Isaiah 55:8-9).

No matter how much evidence is produced, if a person doesn't want to believe in God he/she won;t. However, there is a lot of evidence that supports the truth of the Bible. God said: "Those who seek Me with their whole heart will find Me." (Jeremiah 29:13)

Two popular religious writers, Kenneth Boa and Larry Moody, expressed it well in their book, I'm Glad You Asked. They said, "If God created the universe, there is a supernatural dimension to reality, and this means that miracles are possible." If God exists, does He have the power to interact with and alter any law of nature? The answer must be yes. To accept Jesus' miracles as myths or mere stories with a lesson and to seek natural explanations amounts to a tacit presupposition that God does not exist, or that he is unable to affect the natural world and, therefore, is removed from our experience.

Belief in Jesus' miracles, then, rests on belief in God. As John Lafarge once said of miracles: "For those who believe in God, no explanation is needed; for those who do not believe in God, no explanation is possible."

I could sit here and type day after day, showing countless ways in which God really does exist, sent His one and only Son, who died on the cross and rose in three days to save all of mankind; but if you do not believe in God, you must ask yourself; is there truly anything I (or anybody else) can say, prove, or show that would change your mind? I hope this helps.

Thanks guys and hope everybody has a great rest of the day
