It really has. I remember when Dirk Nowitzki first arrived, my friends thought I was cheating at NBA Live because “7 footers can’t shoot the three. If they could have, they would have learned that by now.”
And while I genuinely appreciated the great defensive teams of the early 2000s, I always built fantasy draft teams to play inside out ball like the Warriors do.
To address OP’s question - no, the NBA hasn’t ruined their product. Until the last decade, the same 7 teams always won for a 30 year stretch. Before player migration, teams like Milwaukee and Atlanta went dormant for decades, despite having guys like Dominique Wilkins. And thank god the NBA doesn’t call offensive fouls at the clip that NCAA does, tired of watching flop after flop after flop on defense. So many NCAA offensive charging fouls are called while the defenders’ feet are still moving, it’s just dumb and terrible to watch.
