EarthWake,
I only do this thread because I know the Dolphins inside and out. I bet on all Nfl teams but obviously don't know them like I do the Dolphins.
The chances Albert plays week 1 are about 85-90%. I will know more as the days go on.

The Dolphins first preseason game is this week and I will most likely be laying off unless something really catches my eye.
Here are some updates of training camp so far.
QB - Ryan Tannehill has been pretty sharp. Omar Kelly writes (remember, he is Tannehill Hater) that he has much more control and feel of the offense. Which makes sense because it is year 2 under the same offensive coordinator. Tannehill use to have a great practice then a bad one. This year he has been more consistent which every single Dolphins fan is looking for. His deep ball is also looking nice. He completed 4 of them in practice the other day. Many people will realize what Dolphins fans already know. Tannehill's struggles with the deep ball were 80 % Wallace / 20% Tannehill Not much to report on Matt Moore and at this point Josh Freeman will not be making the roster.
RB - The most impressive player so far during camp for the Dolphins has been RB Lamichael James. He has been very fast and elusive making play after play. He will be fighting for the backup role of Lamar Miller (who Joe Philbin has been really hyping.) James came into camp as possibly not making the roster, and now has forced the coaches to almost move him up the depth charts to #2. Ajayi has been pretty solid but the coaches say he needs to work on pass protection
WR - Juice has been fantastic, and the player having the second best camp for the Dolphins is #5 receiver Rishad Matthews. He has always been buried on the depth chart sitting around WR 4-5, but does have a 14 catch 120 yard performance against Tampa Bay on MNF 2 years ago. He is very young and in his final year of his contract. After this year he will leave the dolphins for more oppurtunity. If he can contribute anything to this offense it will be a bonus.
TE - Haven't heard anything about Sims but Cameron has been making play after play. He had 2 touchdowns in the Dolphins scrimmage and will be a huge redzone target this year. If. he. stays. healthy.
OL - Not good. The are obviously missing their best player (Albert) and are going up against arguably the best DL in the NFL but SUH has been reeking havoc on them. On the first play of the scrimmage, Suh stopped Miller for an 11 yard loss. It really looks like Miami will be signing Mathis if the 2 can reach a deal. Again Billy Turner may be keeping the Dolphins from a deep playoff run, so it is now time to cheapen up for Stephen Ross. They really need Evan Mathis. Mathis wants 2 years /5.5 mil. Dolphins want to give him 1 year/2.5 mil
DL - Wow. Suh has been an absolute monster. The Dolphins players have given him a new nickname 'the chief.' The Dolphins Dline has been so impressive and so deep I forgot to even mention Derrick Shelby and Terrance Fede. Both will be making a big impact this year. They are all over the ball in practice causing disruption. If / When you watch any Dolphins game this year. Just focus on their D-line and then tell me this team can't make a sleeper run. The Dline is just simply in 1 word. Unblockable.
LB - Haven't heard much except Misi has a minor hamstring injury and is something to keep an eye on.
CB/FS - Jamar Taylor had a bad first few days on camp but has looked better after that. However, Zach Bowman has looked really good and had the best camp besides Grimes who is a machine. I am really happy with the depth of this unit. very happy. Its something they absolutely did not have last year

Yes I just checked its on NFL Network at 10am on Friday. I will definitely be watching / DVRing and watching it sometime Friday. I will certainly recap the game if you want.
As for Mathis. The Dolphins have like 8 million in cap left and they are dying to win. Especially the owner. So why now would you cheapen up on a solid veteran on a unit that is clearly the weak spot of your team. Obviously Mathis is asking too much because he is still unsigned. I really believe they will get a deal done once Mathis realizes it is better to make 3 million than zero.
Pouncey is also already moved back to center. Billy Turner, Dallas Thomas and rookie Jamil Douglas (3rd rounder) are fighting for the 2 guard spot. The coaches have stated Dallas Thomas is playing well so it looks like Turner and Douglas for 1 guard spot.

4 Quarterbacks of the AFC East
One is Suspended 4 games
One was Knocked out by teammate, out 8 weeks
One is Journey man QB, might be named EJ or Tyrod.
One is Ryan Tannehill, who realistically can throw for 30 TDs / 4500 yards.
Could the Dolphins be in a better position right now?

Dolphins (+1) at Chicago.
Not a big fan of betting preseason and never will be but I still think the Dolphins have the upper hand in this one for a few reasons. I only expect Tannehill and the first team to play 1 or 2 series, but I have a lot of faith in the second team. The Dolphins have some play makers on offense that are on the second team that have been impressive through camp. Lamichael James, Michael Preston and Laron Byrd to name a few. I also think Matt Moore is one of the best 5 backups in the league. The Dolphins 2nd team Dline is also pretty solid with Mitchell, Shelby and Fede. Also the depth of their secondary should help this bet out. The main reason I'm taking this bet though is their defensive line. This might be the most impressive unit, on any team in the NFL. I think the Dolphins defensive line will completely dominate this game. The fact that the Bears have a new coach and new OC and scheme doesn't hurt. There is usually a growing process there. Nothing big just a small play, but I feel the odds are in my favor. Once Josh Freeman enters the game, all bets are off which should be for the 2nd half.

The Dolphins will range from 8 wins to 12. Under no circumstance will this be a 7-9 team. I got the over 8.5 at -130 which I am very confident with. Gun to my head I would bet on the over 9 but obviously a lot happier with 8.5. If I were you I'd be pretty confident in that bet atleast pushes. I can see the Dolphins sitting at 9 wins with 2 weeks to play. They have a tough 2 games at home to end the season vs Colts and Patriots.
I think they are a 10-6 team that could end 9-7 or 12-4 depending on how they do in close games. Again if I were you I would be confident that 9 is atleast a push. It will be a SEVERELY disappointing season for all involved if this team somehow goes 8-8. Heads will roll, starting with Joe Philbin.

Yesterday's game went about as possible. The Dolphins lost 27-10, but the first and second team dominated the Bears. The opening drive started with a 0 yard run by Lamar Miller, but he soon broke off a 27 yard rush to end with 3 carries for 33 yards. He is definitely poised for another 1000 yard season, and then some. Tannehill went 6/7 for 56 yards and a TD. Of his 7 passes though, 2 were risky. Dion Sims had 2 solid catches, Juice had 2 short targets turned big plays. Rishad Matthews had a 3rd down conversion and Jennings had a nice 18 yard catch. The main thing I like was the clean pocket I saw every time Tannehill dropped back. The offensive line played well without its best player. The Dolphins offense was also without Parker and Still who will combine for over 120 catches this year. Matt Moore looked okay connecting with Laron Byrd on a 35 yard diving catch.
The first team defense held the Bears to a 3 and out on the first drive. Suh did not get in the statsheet but he was double teamed every play which allowed for Jenkins to stuff a run play for zero yards, and Cam Wake to absolutely destroy Jay Cutler on the 2nd drive. Even though the play was wiped out on offsetting penalties. It would seem Cameron Wake is just going to have an unbelieveable year. He was arguably the best dlineman in football while getting double teamed. Can you imagine the year he is going to have going 1-1. The Dolphins 2nd team defensive line also dominated like expected. Fede had two tackles, and one for loss. I was also impressive with Will Davis (backup corner) who was all over receivers and great coverage. I love the Dolphins secondary this year.
The third and fouth teamers on the Dolphins didn't play well, but who cares. These are practice squad players who won't be making the team. All in all it was a great night. Tannehill looked sharp, lead an 85 yeard TD drive (well 105 yard TD drive) because there were 2 holding penalties, and the first team defense held the bears to a 3 and out.
