US has the tools to fight new variants, but the majority of cases are still driven by Delta, Walensky says
CNN -
“Let’s just back up for one second and comment on the fact that today we have 90,000 new cases of Covid-19 every day, and that about 99.9% of them continue to be Delta,” Walensky said. We can’t lose sight of the fact that the vast majority of what we have here in the United States is Delta. And we know how to tackle Delta, with vaccines, with boosters, with masking and all of our prevention measures that we have been using all along.”

Indeed, it was shown in trials to be 91-95% effective against the ORIGINAL STRAIN for which it was specifically developed and this held up to that same level of efficay on all **ORIGINAL STRAIN** cases up to late spring when the DELTA variant became the dominant strain. Thus proving that even though it was rushed -- entirely for REPUBLICAN political purposes -- as it turned out the resultant vaccine was effective against the ORIGINAL STRAIN for which it was developed. Success! Some might say a good deal of luck was involved and I don't know that I would argue, but the bottom line is still the bottom line.
This is hilarious and shows how crazy you all are. Democrats wouldn't take the vax when Trump was in office because "I'm not taking the Trump vaccine" then when Biden takes office the same people say "everyone needs to get their vaccine", the same vaccine! THIS IS WHY PEOPLE DON'T TRUST DEMOCRATS. There's literally no logic involved with their though process. DEMOCRATS MAKE IT POLITICAL.

We don't know how to tackle Delta. If we did Michigan wouldn't have had more cases since June 1 than from Jan 1 to June 1. AND JANUARY WAS SUPPOSED TO BE "THE SURGE".
Now the baton will be passed to New York with all their vaxed card requirements, etc. Very soon THEY will leading the nation.

Has anyone ever noticed that the ratio of hot chicks to not hot chicks in an airport is way higher than it is out in the world. It's like ugly chicks have no place to go. I digress.... this site has become a travesty.

So much better, Kelly. However they are still working on one so who knows.
The DELTA variant is back up to killing over 1,000 per day again -- it's just going to get worse, because of all the UNvaccinated -- and hospitalizations are UP 22% from October. No known cases of omicron yet hospitalized.

It's true, bro. I've been tracking this for a few years. Ugly chicks are less like to be visiting a significant other, less likely to be popular, therefore visiting and/or traveling with friends or traveling for some other recreational reason. Less likely to succeed in business, therefore less likely to be traveling for business.

I've been on flights where there's not an ugly chick on the plane. I'm 39 and I'm including every woman from like 20 to 55. Not including teenagers or 70 year olds though even with the seniors, you can often clearly see that they were hot in their youth.

I seem to recall alot of people claiming they are not taking "the Trump Vaccine". Maybe it was just the misleading MSM pumping that.
What are your thoughts on this new strain? If the MSM is right that it's so much worse than the Delta, why are we still allowing international travel? Why haven't they shut it down? I mean, that's the main complaint Dems had, right? That we allowed international travel and let the virus in.
Would like to hear your thoughts on this new strain so moving forward we can look back.

I don't follow the media much so maybe you have heard something I haven't but I have yet to hear this new variant is so much worse than Delta. I have just heard it is possibly more transmissible than Delta. And that they are concerned because they don't understand the strain. The level of difference as it relates to known strains, the amount of mutation, and the fact that the majority of the mutations are to the spike protein could mean current vaccines, which have done well with the Delta variant, could be virtually useless against this new variant. And that is concerning.

I was on a plane with a real Brian Laundrie situation. This girl was smoking. We were in the same security line and I thought she might possibly be a lesbian. Then I saw her little dude and I was like, "Oh wow." Love is love and I'm sure they are very happy together but she was way out of his league. And she seemed to be at that stage of accepting it because she did not seem happy. We were in security check in together, then at the coffee place, then on the same plane. Maybe they are traveling for a funeral because their energy and chemistry was shot. The wife and I, we could literally just be jumping over to Idaho or Montana and our energy is gonna represent that we are together and going on a trip.

I'm very concerned with the new strain because we (by "we" I mean our best scientists) know very little about it. I don't listen to MSM but I do listen to our experts when they are interviewed. I listen to what they have to say & act accordingly. I don't wear my mask in the house or outside our properties but I do wear it everywhere else.
Regarding travel, I think it was was wise when Trump shutdown international travel. Covid was still very much an unknown & without a vaccine. However, international travel wasn't my biggest concern. The virus was already here. My concern was once a a vaccine was approved, it wasn't readily available en masse. I was also concerned about the number of people contracting the virus while others still to this day won't wear a mask to protect others in their communities.
I got my booster about 2 weeks ago but I'm not convinced that it is enough to prevent me from getting htis new strain. I'm not sure anyone has the answer to that question at this point in time.

@BigGame90 Regarding your comment Democrats wouldn't take the "Trump vaccine", I disagree. We got the vaccine as soon as it was available. The people who don't trust Democrats are the same fools that trusted lying Trump.
Midnight1 is right. Gallup poll reveals 92% of democrats are vaccinated versus 56% of republicans. Kaiser family survey found vaccination rates of 90% for democrats and 58% for republicans. Their analysis indicates political affiliation matters more than age, race, education or insurance status in predicting whether someone receives a vaccine dose. Recently, 60% of unvaccinated adults are republican compared to 17% democrat.

this also points to a similar but much larger issue :: massive erosion of trust
trust in media is down on both sides but way more by repos
trust in government officials esp. any tasked with oversight is down much more in repos
trust in public health officials is way way way down among repos
trust in the FBI is down on both sides but far more among repos
trust in our democratic election process is way way way down among repos
this and other erosion of trust ,most particularly among the repos ,has happened most significantly since 2017. there is an obvious common denominator root cause

I was talking with my brother in law who is a pharmacist & he said offering his employees a bonus to get certified in administering vaccines fell on deaf ears. I asked why.
He told me they didn't want to work the extra hours or come in contact with the unvaccinated even though they do so unknowingly every day.
I remember gobbling up overtime & learning new skills anytime I could when in my 20's.
I don't know if it's laziness, overall contentment or a combination of other things in accepting their status quo.
I realize we live in a complicated world but stuff like this is a no brainer to me. Learn a new skill & make more money, yes please!

Maybe so, but have you been on a flight where women breastfeed their hairless cats? Now, that would be something to see!!! MEOW!!
From World-o-meters both Canada and the USA report about 1 COVID death for every 61 COVID cases. Since June 1 one death every 74 reported cases for the US.
Canada has reported 1 death for every 98 reported cases since June 1.
The UK reports about 1 death for every 71 COVID cases. Since June 1 one death for every 291 reported cases.
Israel reports 1 death for every 164 cases. Since June 1 one death every 284 reported cases.
The Netherlands reports 1 death for every 138 cases. Since June 1st 1 death for every 384 cases!!
Then there is ICELAND. Since the start of the pandemic Iceland has reported 1 death for every 524 cases!! Since the beginning of this year they have had over 8000 reported cases and only 5 deaths. Well over 1 death for every 1100+ reported cases!!!
Soooo how has the Netherlands, Iceland, and Israel reduced COVID deaths so much and the United States has NOT?
Vaccination? USA 59.6% fully vaccinated. Israel 62.7% fully vaccinated. Since June 1 Israel reporting a death every 284 cases, USA 74. Israel almost 4 times better at preventing death from COVID.

KellyM 1964 is right. Paranoia or irrational distrust is a problem creating dysfunctional society. Especially distrust in traditional institutions of truth such as science, media, school and government. Instead republicans are more likely than democrats to believe conspiracy theories and that experts are always wrong. In a pandemic, distrust increase the difficulty of fighting disease that lead to over 700,000 deaths in the US. Distrust in science and government contributes to mask and vaccine hesitancy. Republicans think public health measures are about government control and taking personal freedom away. Americans need to see traditional institutions as a force for good or else distrust will continue to wreck havoc.

“Especially distrust in traditional institutions of truth such as science, media, school and government.” Imagine calling the media a traditional institution of trust.
Anyone was says that does not have an ounce of credibilty.
Imagine calling the American Heart Association website a possible dangerous link only because of a SCIENTIFIC study that found a connection with the vaccine and heart imflamation?
Imagine saying 99% of COVID is the unvaccinated? Get the vaccine and you won't get COVID. And saying that with huge amounts of contrary scientific data staring you in the face.
Imagine having "blinders on" and saying vaccination alone will end COVID, nevermind focusing on treatments like other SANE countries have done, reducing deaths by huge percentages!
You don't have to imagine, IT'S REAL.
