He's already said he's going to play baseball in the Spring for UCF. (He originally committed to Ole Miss over Bama because Ole Miss would let him play both sports.) That worries me as far as him giving it a 'go'... does he really go all-out in a meaningless bowl game and risk his baseball season as well? Just thinking out loud here. |

Does anyone have anything for his status for the bowl game vs. Duke? I see he's listed as "Questionable" dealing with a hamstring injury. But, I haven't seen anything on him practicing/not practicing leading up to this game. Does anyone have anything?
If he doesn't go, the game is in the hands of Redshirt Freshman Thomas Castellanos |

Will the Michigan/Ohio State National Championship hold the highest ratings on record for a title game?

Here was my thinking for TCU-K-State. I'd definitely be interested to hear your thoughts as well. Thanks in advance. There look to be several key changes from the first meeting: ** Are Kendre Miller & Quentin Johnston at 100%? K.Miller hurt at the end of the Baylor game. Miller gets 20 carries /gm like clockwork. Had only 15 last wk vs. Iowa State and Demercado had an uptick in touches. Not sure he's fully healthy. Johnston did not play vs. Iowa State ** Will Howard continues to get better as the season progresses. Earlier match-up was his first extended game action of the season. ** Pressure -- pressure is squarely on the Frogs to make the CFP. First match-up those Playoff aspirations had not let materialized. I could see them come out "tight" for the first few possessions ** Rematch favors loser of 1st match-up -- small sample size but recent history has favored the loser of the 1st match-up in the B12 Championship game ... 2021 Baylor ... 2020 Oklahoma ... 2019 Baylor took Oklahoma to Overtime ... 2018 Oklahoma .... (2017 Oklahoma won both times) The above has me leaning K-State + the points. But again I'd be interested to hear if you see things differently. Thanks

@vanzack Appreciate your breakdowns of these games. Not to blow smoke, but I'm not sure most here realize how lucky we are to have someone like yourself posting here who is experienced, profitable, and with no agenda
A couple thoughts/questions: Bills/Chiefs -- I'll have a Bills ticket in this one. Recently we've seen fast starts from the Bills.. and slow starts from the Chiefs. How much do you play Live lines once a team gets down? 49ers/GB -- I have to say, I just don't see it with the 49ers. There's no question SF has an Excellent roster... is a tough match-up for any team with the way they play... But, what "big games" has GB lost over the past 2 seasons? Tampa Bay NFC Championship & Indy in Week 11 2020 are the only ones really. (IMO both Vikings losses don't fit in.) TB in 2020 was the eventual Super Bowl winner... and Indy was the beneficiary of some flukey plays (muffed punt, Rodgers fumble.) I believe the 17-0 hole the 49ers got themselves into is being overlooked. And the fact that they never could quite put that Cowboys away in the 2nd Half. Great team, but I think GB wins this one. Call it 27-17

I don't see how Bama can hit the explosive plays in this game that they have hit all year. No Metchie... And you have two corners in Gardner & Coby Bryant who should be able to handle Williams and the Freshman Ja'Corey Brooks. Bama's TE's could potentially be a match-up problem but they're not going to be the ones to beat you over the top for 60 yard quick-strike scores. I still think Cincy is about 3/4 points short to be able to put $$ on them, but I do not see this being a Bama domination like we saw in the SEC Championship. |

@Bridge1 Really appreciate the insight-- some excellent stuff in there. I'm waiting to fire on the under... it's my opinion that this line is about a TD too high based off what we saw vs. UGA in the SEC champ. While Cincy might not be able to match personnel man-for-man with UGA overall, their secondary is 100% better than UGA's. Now Bama is down Metchie... Gardner should be able to limit Williams... so your big plays are coming from either Slade Bolden (not happening)... Ja'Corey Brooks (who is excellent but is also a FR matched up against a Senior Coby Bryant)... or possibly the Tight Ends. Bama's TE's are GREAT.. but they aren't going to hit the explosive plays over the top that Williams/Metchie can. I trust Fickell to Game Plan a scheme that would not let their TE's beat this defense. A total of 57 just seems too high if Bama will not be able to hit the explosive play... and is facing a Cincy defense that is experienced, well-coached and talented. |

Some thoughts on Miami/OK State below. I'm going to skip the obvious points (D'Eriq King is great... Okie State D is solid... Gundy good in bowls etc. etc.)
* Ok State has struggled with mobile quarterbacks (See: TCU & Texas) -- Can D'Eriq King make plays? * Miami Offensive line is atrocious -- King can't make throws down the field b/c they can't hold blocks * Ok State RB's are surprisingly SOLID -- Yes, Hubbard is out but both of their back-up RB's looked GREAT when given their opportunities * Ok State motivation -- they were thinking playoff preseason and now they're in Orlando in the Cheez-it-Bowl * Gundy v. Miami D -- Just like Phil Longo, Gundy will find ways to exploit this Miami defense. Okie State receivers are both solid (Wallace & Stoner) * Miami offense too inconsistent -- down 14-0 versus NC State... down 14-3 to VT ... and I won't even mention the North Carolina game
The more I mull over this game the more I see it as a toss-up. I don't really see any solid advantages on either side. Thoughts?

@Bridge Question on the Clem/OSU total. I'm looking at 1H under 31 and I see you're on the over. I see Clemson trying to get the running game going with Etienne and running some clock. As for OSU, I expect Venables to make some adjustments from last year's debacle in the 1H. Don't anticipate Fields throwing downfield too much with the bad thumb. Also, timing has seemed a little "off" without consistent week-to-week play. Thoughts? |
