One of the most critical seasons in the history of the Toronto Blue Jays gets underway today as they open the 2025 MLB season against the Baltimore Orioles.

Will Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s potential departure put a cloud over this season? Or will things fall into place for a magical season in Toronto?

Either way, Vladdy is starting the season with a bang, and my Blue Jays predictions will bring you my best bet and same-game parlay for this Opening Day matchup against the O’s.

Blue Jays predictions for March 27

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Pay the man!

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 total bases (+105 at BetVictor)

Opening Day is here, and the Toronto Blue Jays have yet to sign their home-grown superstar to a contract extension, with the expectation now being that the four-time All-Star will test free agency at the end of the season. I’m betting it won't take long for Vladdy to make Blue Jays fans everywhere upset that the front office didn’t get the job done.

That’s partly because Vladimir Guerrero Jr. gets a great matchup on Opening Day against the Baltimore Orioles

Yes, the Orioles are coming off a 91-win season and are a legitimate contender to win the American League this year. However, there are serious questions about this roster heading into 2025, particularly regarding the pitching staff.

The O’s didn’t replace ace Corbin Burnes in the offseason, and Grayson Rodriguez is hurt. That means Zach Eflin gets the Opening Day start for the O’s and that has Vladdy salivating.

Eflin was solid in 2024, pitching to a 3.76 expected ERA, but he gave up a lot of hits, ranking in the 34th percentile in opponent expected batting average. That’s not good going up against a hitter as good as Guerrero. Plus, he’s had Eflin’s number.

Vladdy is 7-for-19 in his career vs. Eflin with two dingers. That’s good for a .376 xBA and a .750 xSLG. I think we’re in store for a contract-year explosion from Vladdy. Remember that scene from Goodfellas where Henry Hill describes what happens when you get the mob as a partner?

"Business bad? F^&* you, pay me. Oh, you had a fire? F^&* you, pay me. Place got hit by lightning, huh? F^&* you, pay me."

I’m feeling a lot of that energy from Vladdy this season. Pay him. And we’ll bet the Over his 1.5 total bases in the meantime.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 total bases

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 0.5 RBI

Zach Eflin Over 4.5 hits allowed

Let’s double down on Vladdy on Opening Day, hoping one of those total bases is productive and drives in a run. Guerrero drove in 103 runs last season and, as noted, he’s had plenty of success against Eflin in his career.

Speaking of Eflin, he made three starts against the Blue Jays last season, two as a member of the Rays before being traded to the Orioles. He surrendered a whopping 25 hits over 17 2/3 innings pitched in those games, giving up no fewer than six in each.

So, let’s round this Opening Day SGP out with Elin to go Over 4.5 hits allowed.
