My best bet
Both teams to score three or more runs (-139 at PROLINE+)

My analysis
With no playoff race pressure on their shoulders, these two teams have fewer reasons than usual for being tight at the plate. Swing freely guys!

Kevin Gausman brings a 4.42 ERA into this contest, and he’s allowed three or more runs in three of his last four starts. The Toronto veteran hasn’t looked quite at his best in 2024, with right handers batting .256 against him.

He’s also struggled over the years against Anthony Rendon and Kevin Pillar, with the duo having a combined .384 (25-for-65) batting average against Gausman.

Carson Fulmer is getting some runway as a starter after spending most of the year in the Los Angeles Angels’ bullpen, and the results have been mixed so far. He pitched four innings against the New York Yankees on Wednesday and gave up two runs on seven hits with just a single strikeout.

It’s also worth noting L.A. has given up at least four runs in five of its last seven outings. The hosts scored 12 runs in their weekend series with the Washington Nationals, and they’ve hit the team total Over in 31 of their last 55 home games.

Even with some uneven performances to be expected from a largely inexperienced Blue Jays lineup, the threat of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. looms large, with Vladdy serving up two hits last night.

I see both offenses having some joy at Angel Stadium and keeping the scoreboard ticking over.

My best bet
Kevin Gausman Under 5.5 strikeouts (-115 at PROLINE+)

My analysis
The Blue Jays have won Gausman’s last five starts, including a 7-6 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday, and yet it still feels like the Toronto ace is searching for his best stuff.

I’m fading his strikeouts prop here. His punchouts tally has dropped significantly this season, with just 121 to his name (tied for 42nd), and he’s had five Ks or fewer in four of his last five outings.

As well as he pitched in his last outing, Gausman managed just two punchouts through eight innings of work, and he’s walked three batters in each of his past four appearances on the bump.

While Gausman has put up better overall numbers on the road than at Rogers Centre in 2024, I see the Angels doing enough to throw off his rhythm tonight.
