My analysis
While the Toronto Blue Jays’ playoff hopes are long gone, a line-up packed with promising young talent seems determined to make some noise down the stretch. Five of their RBIs last night came from hitters who are 26 years old or younger.
That’s in stark contrast to what the Los Angeles Angels have served up so far in this series. The hosts have recorded just nine hits and one run against the Blue Jays this week, and they’re now averaging just four runs per game in 2024.
With L.A.’s cold streak at the plate and the potential for inconsistency from Toronto’s young guns, I’m taking the Under here and counting on Jose Berrios and Tyler Anderson to live up to the impressive ERAs they’ve posted this season.
Berrios has been on the money in two of his past three starts, including an eight-strikeout effort against the Oakland A’s on Friday, where he allowed just one run in seven innings of work. The L.A. hitters have seen very little of Berrios over the years, which should help the Blue Jays ace get rolling early.
Meanwhile, Anderson has been rock solid for the Angels this summer, with a 2.70 ERA in July and two steady outings this month. Three of his past four starts have ended as Unders.
Other trends support this pick too. This L.A. team has cashed in the Under in 22 of their last 38 games at Angel Stadium, and the hosts have also hit the Team Total Under in 10 of their last 14 home contests.

Daulton Varsho Over 0.5 RBI (+195 at PROLINE+)
My analysis
This has been a rough series at the plate so far for Daulton Varsho, who’s 0-for-8 on this stop at Angel Stadium, but he should light up at the sight of Anderson on the mound for L.A.
That’s generally brought good results for Varsho, who’s 5-for-9 against the Angels starter, including two doubles, and he’s hitting .288 on the year against lefties, compared to just .182 against righties.
The past two nights have just been a mini blip for Varsho, who had three hits at the weekend against the A’s and four hits last week against the Baltimore Orioles.
This is an ideal bounce-back opportunity and I’m taking these odds for Varsho to give the visitors a boost at the top of the order tonight.
