MLB Player Props for 8-15: Best Bets for Bryce Miller, Mitchell Parker & Cody Bradford

Cody Bradford hasn't spent much time in the majors, but his strikeout stuff should cause issues for a Minnesota lineup yet to face the hurler.

There’s afternoon baseball today, and our top MLB player props feature a trio of starting pitchers spanning the slate from beginning to end.

The action starts with Seattle Mariners righty Bryce Miller, with Washington Nationals rookie Mitchell Parker leading to Texas Rangers lefty Cody Bradford in the nightcap.

MLB props for August 15

Today’s best MLB props

Prop bet #1: Bryce Miller Over 17.5 outs

-110 at BetMGM

Seattle Mariners starter Bryce Miller has hit the Over in this market in five of his past six starts, and he faces a tamed Detroit Tigers lineup this afternoon. The Tigers rank second last in both wOBA and on-base percentage since the All-Star break, and they also respectively rank 25th and 29th against right-handed hurlers for the season.

Miller has also dealt in five of the noted six outings, with an impressive 2.12 ERA and 0.88 WHIP, and I’m equally impressed with issuing just three free passes and averaging only 87.7 pitches per start. The Seattle righty has only allowed a 6.6 barrel percentage while holding opposing hitters to a .239 batting average despite sporting a .288 BABIP during the stretch.

Prop bet #2: Mitchell Parker Under 15.5 outs

-110 at BetMGM

The Philadelphia Phillies pace the bigs in wOBA and on-base percentage against LHP this season, and Washington Nationals hurler Mitchell Parker hasn’t been as efficient on the highway with a 4.78 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 4.52 xFIP compared to respective 3.00, 1.03 and 4.10 marks at home.

Parker’s strikeout-to-walk rate also drops from 16.3% at Nationals Park to just 10.5% on the road, and Philadelphia ranks fourth with a 9.6 walk rate against southpaws. I’m anticipating the Phillies having a solid night at the dish, and Parker to be pitching from the stretch early and often.

Prop bet #3: Cody Bradford Over 4.5 strikeouts

+110 at DraftKings

There isn’t a lot of 2024 data for Texas Rangers lefty Cody Bradford, with just five MLB starts and another two in the minors. He’s pitched his way into a starting role for the time being with the Rangers rotation riddled with injuries, and there’s a lot to like about his strikeout potential.

Bradford has four pitches grading as a plus, per FanGraphs, and he sports a solid 9.32 K/9 and 27.1 K rate through his five starts in MLB. The underlying marks also impress, with the lefty’s 30.4 called-plus-swinging-strike percentage a high-end mark alongside hitters swinging at 34.7% of his offerings outside the strike zone.

It’s not a high-end matchup, with the Minnesota Twins striking out the 11th least against southpaws, but this will also be the first time the bulk of the Minny lineup will face Bradford.
