The Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers have split the first two games of a four-game set to open the season.

It should be another toss-up on Saturday night, with the Rangers as slight home favorites.

My Red Sox vs. Rangers predictions and MLB picks for Saturday, March 29, expect another low-scoring game.

Red Sox vs Rangers prediction

My Red Sox vs Rangers best bet: Under 9 (-108 at FanDuel)

The Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox have combined for just 12 runs through two games this season.

The Red Sox took the opener 5-2 on Thursday before a 4-1 decision for the Rangers on Friday night.

Saturday night brings us a matchup between two veteran pitchers who are looking to get 2025 off on the right foot.

It’ll be Walker Buehler making his Red Sox debut for the away side.

The former Dodgers pitcher returned from Tommy John Surgery last year with an uncharacteristic 5.38 ERA.

He still boasts a 3.27 ERA for his career, though, and was impressive in spring training for the Sox.

Rangers starter Tyler Mahle joined the team last season but only pitched 12.2 innings across three starts.

He, too, was recovering from Tommy John Surgery, and he has pitched 38.1 innings since the start of 2013.

Mahle also had a strong spring to earn a spot in the rotation.

The lackluster offenses so far should allow Buehler and Mahle to settle in as they make their season debuts.

Neither of the first two games have even had eight runs so the Under 9 is the play here.

Red Sox vs Rangers same-game parlay (SGP)

Under 9

Walker Buehler 4+ strikeouts

Josh Jung

Buehler has always been a strong strikeout pitcher throughout his career with 754 punchouts in 713.2 career innings.

He saw that come down a notch last year with 64 Ks in 75.1 IP but had 4+ strikeouts in five of his final six starts.

Josh Jung had a rough go of it last season but has had a strong start thus far with three hits -- all singles -- in seven at-bats.

I’ll add a bit of a contrarian leg to close out the parlay.
