My analysis
Tyrese Maxey is averaging 27.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 6.1 assists across 37.9 minutes per game this season. He’s doing it with a 31.1 usage rate while putting the Philadelphia 76ers on his back as Joel Embiid and Paul George struggle to stay on the court. Maxey ranks 12th in the Association in usage rate, and only Mikal Bridges (38.3) has averaged more minutes.
Over the first 20 games of the season, Maxey averaged 25.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and five assists. Over the last 20, his averages have ballooned to 29.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists.
For as good as Maxey has been over his last 20, he’s been phenomenal across his last nine. In that stretch, Philly’s star guard has posted 33.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 6.8 dimes, good for 43.8 PRAs.
Over the last three weeks, Maxey’s usage rate has risen to 33.4, ninth-highest in the Association. His 39.4 minutes per game in that span are most in the Association. I expect heavy minutes, heavy usage, and plenty of scoring, rebounding, and facilitating against the Boston Celtics with Paul George and Joel Embiid sidelined yet again.
Over the last 15 games, Boston has allowed opposing PGs to average 38.9 PRAs. Maxey finished with 33/4/12 against the C's on Christmas, and he delivered a 32/3/5 line in the final matchup with Boston last season. That’s two straight Overs for Maxey against Boston, and both of those games were on the road.
Maxey has averaged 38.3 PRAs at home and just 35.8 on the road, and he should have no problem reaching 42 PRAs tonight. Hammer the Over here.
