My analysis
It’s no secret the Philadelphia 76ers are struggling immensely. They have a brutal 3-12 record, with both Joel Embiid and Paul George barely playing so far this season due to injuries.
However, Jared McCain is a clear bright spot for this franchise, even if they aren’t a title contender.
The former Duke standout is taking full advantage of his increased role. He’s made 15 appearances and has started the last five games, averaging 26.6 points during that span. Overall, McCain is averaging 16.5 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.3 rebounds on 42.7% shooting from downtown.
He’s hit the Over in points in five of the last seven contests and just dropped 30 on Friday in a win over the Nets. The 20-year-old clearly has a hot hand right now, and Philadelphia is putting the ball in his hands a lot.
McCain and Tyrese Maxey are the primary ball-handlers and it wouldn’t surprise me to see the rookie have another big game tonight in L.A.

Since Embiid has barely seen the court this season, it’s really been on Maxey’s shoulders to be the star of this squad. Sure, their record is atrocious, but the fifth-year guard is showing out and proving to be Philadelphia’s most consistent player, both from a production and health standpoint.
Maxey's averaging 25.2 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.1 rebounds. While he’s shooting just 28.1% from 3-point land, that actually makes his scoring even more impressive because Maxey is doing a lot of it from mid-range and at the rim.
The ex-Kentucky star has cashed his scoring Over in four of his last six games and got back on track on Friday, scoring 26 in the win over Brooklyn after a pair of quiet outings. He’s also averaging over 26 ppg on home court this season.
We’re looking at two teams who rank in the Bottom 10 of the Association in scoring. The Clippers are only scoring 108.6 points per night, while the Sixers are putting up just 104.5. The Over has been hit in four of the last six meetings, but in every one of those games, the total was set higher.
Tonight, it sits at just 211. That stands to reason, given the important players who are sidelined, but even without the stars on both sides, it will not be difficult to hit the Over with such a low total.
