Kings vs 76ers Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NBA Game

Neither the Kings nor 76ers play much defense, and with Joel Embiid still out, Domantas Sabonis & Co. should clean up down low. Still, the Sixers can score even without their top star, meaning the Over is in play.

Latest NBA Picks

After a tough start to the season, the Sacramento Kings have turned things around, but now the team plans on dealing All-Star De’Aaron Fox. That shouldn’t stop Fox and this offense from popping off against a struggling Philadelphia 76ers team tonight, though.

With neither team living up to the preseason hype for several reasons, including inconsistent defensive play, my Kings vs. 76ers predictions expect their high-flying guards to score plenty of buckets.

Behold my NBA picks for this Wednesday, January 29 tip at 7:30 p.m. ET from the Wells Fargo Center.

Kings vs 76ers prediction

My best bet
Over 229 (-110 at bet365)

My analysis
While neither the Sacramento Kings nor Philadelphia 76ers have been a solid bet against the spread this season — a combined 33-52-6 ATS record — both are capable of scoring while playing lackluster defense, making them solid Over bets this year.

The Kings and 76ers are a combined 47-39-5 betting the Over, and have turned it up in recent weeks. Since January 2, Philadelphia is 9-5 to the Over and Sacramento is even better at 9-3.

A big change for the Kings has been the firing of Mike Brown and the promotion of Doug Christie to interim head coach. In his 15 games as bench boss, the Kings are 11-4 straight up and 10-4-1 betting the Over.

With De'Aaron Fox still on this team for the time being, it makes the Kings one of the most intriguing Over bets in the NBA. With him, Domantas Sabonis, DeMar DeRozan, and Malik Monk, Sacramento is never short on offense.

The Kings are sixth in the NBA in points per game (116.9) and eighth in offensive rating (116.2) … and with Christie in charge, they’re scoring a whopping 121.3 points per game. However, defense remains an issue with Sacramento allowing the 11th-most points per game in the NBA (114.6) and giving up 116.7 PPG since Christie took over.

That bodes well for a 76ers offense that has had a little more life in recent games, helping Philly to win three straight as an underdog. Down Joel Embiid and Jared McCain, Tyrese Maxey has been carrying this team offensively and there’s been a real difference in the last two months.

After scoring just 104.5 PPG and shooting 43.9% from the field in November, Nick Nurse’s team seems to have put it together on the offensive end in recent weeks. In December and January, the 76ers have averaged more than 110 PPG while shooting better than 45% from the floor.

Despite the uptick in offense, the team is still just 14-13 over the last two months because its defense has been getting toasted. In January, the 76ers are allowing 116 PPG and 50.6% shooting from the floor.

That horrific defense is why the Kings’ offense is poised to take advantage and help this Over.

Kings vs 76ers same-game parlay

Over 228.5

Domantas Sabonis Over 37.5 points + rebounds

De'Aaron Fox Over 4.5 assists

Maybe one day, Sabonis won’t be the most underrated player in the NBA, but that day doesn’t seem to be coming anytime soon. The former Gonzaga star is having yet another All-Star season, averaging 21 points and 14.6 rebounds, which leads the league by a wide margin.

He should have no problem pulling down boards against a 76ers team that’s down Embiid and has Andre Drummond listed as day-to-day. Philly is last in the NBA in rebounds per game (39.1) and allowing the highest 2-point percentage to opponents (58%), and Sabonis does a lot of his damage inside the arc.

If he’s scoring buckets, you best believe Fox will be setting him up for quite a few. The soon-to-be-traded star is averaging his most assists per game in several seasons (6.2) and has gone Over 4.5 in six of his last seven games.
