Kings vs Jazz Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NBA Game

As defense continues to be in rebuild mode for these teams, the Utah Jazz come in with their slowly, but surely improving offense as they try to show the Sacramento Kings that they can keep the pace just enough to make them sweat.

It’s been a so-so month for both the Sacramento Kings an Utah Jazz, who enter this game hovering around .500 in the month of February.

While Sacramento’s offense has steadied following a re-tool at the trade deadline, their defense remains a large liability – and our Kings vs. Jazz predictions will focus on where Utah can succeed on both ends of the floor to draw close to an upset.

Let’s dig into some NBA player props and hand out some NBA picks on Wednesday, February 26.

Kings vs Jazz prediction

My best bet
Jazz +9.5 (-110 at bet365)

My analysis
This will be a clash between two awfully similar teams, who have continued to struggle on the defensive end while things pick up in the scoring department. While the Sacramento Kings are a slight notch above on offense, they continue to be carried by the inefficient mid-range shot, though their 3-point proficiency has picked up a bit since Zach LaVine arrived in town.

The tough news here is that the Utah Jazz have been the 11th-best 3-point defense in the league this month, which should mitigate the slight boost prove by LaVine’s outside shooting. Utah has certainly been vulnerable in the mid-range which could come into play here, but one thing that’s worth noting is that the Kings are shooting more at the rim and from the corner three spot in LaVine’s minutes.

Utah’s interior scoring has been bordering on special this month, on the flip side, as this frontcourt has dominated in the short mid-range and at the rim in the last few weeks. Sacramento has ranked fifth against shots in the latter shooting area, but dead last in the former.

There’s a world where Utah can keep scoring against what’s historically been a weak frontcourt defense, though there shouldn’t be too large of a discrepancy on the glass.

As long as it can generally keep pace offensively, I think we have to trust what we’ve seen all season which is that Sacramento has been horribly inefficient on offense. As it loses a bit of production around the rim and faces some resistance outside the arc, these two teams should draw level.

Lauri Markkanen’s absence here is worth noting, as is the case with John Collins, but there’s enough depth to this frontcourt where this generous line holds plenty of value. Markkanen’s been somewhat of a liability on the glass anyway, and his contributions have come around the arc. The bigger news is that center Walker Kessler is back healthy, and that should be enough for the Jazz to hold steady in the frontcourt.

Kings vs Jazz same-game parlay

Jazz +9.5

Keyonte George 20+ points

DeMar DeRozan Over 20.5 points

We’ll keep things simple in this parlay, targeting the two men who will be presented some glorious matchups given where they like to shoot the ball.

Keyonte George will continue to see some big minutes with Collin Sexton still nursing an injury, and he’s on a pretty nice run with 20 points per game over his last seven contests with six 20-pieces to his name. He’s been one of the most active guards in the league in the short mid-range, taking 29% of his shots there, but has also taken an abundance of 3-pointers. Sacramento has been one of the worst teams in the league in these two areas, particularly in the former where it sits dead last this month.

Then, we’ll back the king of long mid-range attempts in DeMar DeRozan who will head up against a team ranked 27th in this area in February. He’s been hot as well, averaging 27.6 points in his last five games and clearly has benefited from some defensive attention being paid to LaVine.
