Pelicans vs Warriors Prediction, Picks, & Odds for Tonight’s NBA Game

The Warriors are simply a different team without Steph Curry, and not for the better. The Pelicans may be without Dejounte Murray, but they are still deep enough to beat the Dubs without Curry.

The Golden State Warriors got off to a hot start with two straight blowout wins to open the season, but Steph Curry suffered an ankle injury in Sunday’s loss. The New Orleans Pelicans lost Dejounte Murray in their opener, but are 2-1 heading into tonight's matchup at Chase Center.

The Dubs will look to get back on track without Curry in front of the home crowd, but my Pelicans vs. Warriors predictions expect the visiting team to cover as narrow favorites.

Read my NBA picks to see why you should take New Orleans and the points with tip set for 10 p.m. ET on Tuesday, October 29.

Pelicans vs Warriors prediction

My best bet
Pelicans -1.5 (-110 at BetMGM)

My analysis

The Golden State Warriors' first two wins of the season came against the Portland Trail Blazers and Utah Jazz. Those aren’t exactly cream-of-the-crop opponents, and the Warriors dropped their home opener to a more formidable opponent in the Clippers on Sunday.

Tuesday’s matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans doesn’t get any easier, especially with Steph Curry sitting on the sidelines. Andrew Wiggins’ availability will be huge, as he leads the Warriors in scoring through three games. The Pels and Dubs play the second half of a back-to-back set on Wednesday, and it’s unclear if Wiggins will miss the first leg tonight.

Getting Wiggins on the court would give Golden State a better chance to win this contest, but I’m sticking with New Orleans even if he gets the green light. From top to bottom, the Pels will have a more talented team on the floor tonight.

Over the last five seasons, the Warriors are 157-103 straight up with Curry and 27-34 without him. Golden State is +4.4 with him and -3.1 without him. New Orleans won and covered in both games played at Chase Center last season, and that’s the pick again tonight with Curry sidelined.

Pelicans vs Warriors same-game parlay (SGP)

Pelicans -1.5

Brandon Ingram Over 29.5 pts+reb+ast

CJ McCollum Over 2.5 steals+blocks

CJ McCollum leads New Orleans in scoring, but I’m turning my attention to a much more profitable endeavor. McCollum is averaging a robust three steals and 0.7 blocks this season, and he’s hit the Over on this line in two of three games.

He averaged exactly two steals+blocks in three matchups with the Warriors last season, and I like him to cash this prop tonight. With Murray sidelined, McCollum is averaging a monstrous 35.3 minutes per game and leads the team in steals. There are too many quality scorers, rebounders, and facilitators on this team, so I’ll turn to defense and add this +145 prop to our three-leg parlay to beef it up a bit.

Brandon Ingram is off to a quick start this season, averaging 22.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, and four assists. Not counting Murray, Ingram is second on the team in scoring and assists and leads New Orleans in rebounds.

The Pels lost Jonas Valanciunas in the offseason, and the team’s center rotation includes consummate backup Daniel Theis and rookie Yves Missi. Ingram is using his height and length to clean the glass, and Golden State is middle-of-the-pack in opponent rebounding.

Ingram has posted PRA totals of 28, 33, and 42, so hitting the Over on this prop seems like an excellent wager, especially with odds as long as -105 at BetMGM.
