The Detroit Pistons will seek a season-high sixth straight win when they visit the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday.

Detroit is a 3-point road favorite in the NBA odds, and will be trying to finish off the regular season series with Atlanta by taking three of four.

As Atlanta tries to mesh its trade deadline pickups on the fly, our Pistons vs. Hawks predictions and NBA picks have the surging Pistons ending their road trip with another big win on February 23.

Pistons vs Hawks prediction

My best bet
Pistons -3 (-110 at bet365)

My analysis
The Detroit Pistons didn’t waste any time getting back to business after the All-Star break, hammering the San Antonio Spurs 125-110 to give them five straight wins, with the last three coming on the road.

The Pistons have been an offensive dynamo during this fun-run, averaging 124.4 points per game on 49.7% shooting from the field, and 37.4% from 3-point range.

Couple that with a defense that has clamped down on the opposition, holding teams to 105.2 points and turning them over nearly 16 times per game, and it’s not a surprise Detroit has won each of the last five by double-digits.

Detroit didn’t do a lot at the trade deadline, adding reserve Dennis Schroeder. The Atlanta Hawks took an opposite course as they picked up three new pieces in the hopes of keeping their place in the play-in picture (currently ninth) and potentially moving up the ladder.

The transition looks like a work in progress as George Niang, Caris LeVert and Terance Mann contributed a combined 28 points off the bench in a 114-108 loss to the Magic. The Hawks’ offense, which ranks Top 8 in the NBA, shot 39% from the field. They went a rough 11-for-35 from distance, just a 31.4% clip.

Atlanta has had an extra day off between games, which should be an advantage, but the Pistons are one of the league’s best with a rest disadvantage, going 8-4-1 against the spread, a Top 5 cover mark in the NBA.

Detroit is also a Top 3 team in the league on the road, going 18-10-1 ATS. Only Brooklyn and Cleveland have better cover rates.

Detroit’s average margin of victory during this win streak is 19.2 points. They should be able to muster enough offense to make this a perfect road trip for both the team and the bettors.

Pistons vs Hawks same-game parlay

Pistons -3

Cade Cunningham Over 9.5 assists

Trae Young Over 27.5 points

Let’s target the star point guards in this same-game parlay.

Cade Cunningham is coming off his first All-Star appearance, and he was stellar against the Spurs, scoring 25 points while adding 12 dimes.

Cade has a line of 9.5 assists against the Hawks, and he’s been dishing for the Pistons in this breakout season. He has handed out at least 11 assists in each of the three head-to-head matchups, including 14 in the last meeting.

Trae Young came out firing from All-Star weekend as well, dropping 38 points in a loss to the Magic, the second straight game he’s gone for 38. Young has now scored at least 30+ points in six of his last eight games, which makes this scoring line of 27.5 seem slightly low.

He’s scored 35 points in two different games against the Pistons this season.
