The Detroit Pistons hung tough with the suddenly rejuvenated Warriors, but they couldn’t avoid dropping their second straight, a 115-110 loss in San Francisco.
The turnaround is short, as they battle a Portland Trail Blazers side that's somehow crawled to within four games of the final play-in spot. It’s their final game on a four-game trip out West.
Despite the loss, Detroit continues to carry solid stats for bettors, including a solid 11-7-2 against the spread mark against the Western Conference, the third-best cover rate among East teams. They’re also an impressive 20-11-2 ATS as a road team, and 7-3-2 ATS when playing the second night of a back-to-back.
The Trail Blazers are in the middle of a killer part of their schedule. They’ve dropped three of their last four, losing to the Cavaliers, Celtics, and most recently a 107-89 loss at the hands of the Thunder. Those are the three best teams in basketball! And they still have the Pistons, Warriors, and Knicks to come. Not surprisingly, it’s been a struggle for the Blazers to compete at that top level.
Of all the West teams in contention for the postseason, Portland owns the worst record against teams with winning records, with an 11-26 record, but Portland is the top cover team against the East, running a solid 16-4 ATS mark — the only team in the NBA with an 80% success rate.
Despite those numbers and the fact Detroit also owns just an 11-19 record against winning teams, the Pistons have been more consistent — mostly by beating up on teams with losing records (24-10).
