Expect Kyle Filipowski to start tonight against the Philadelphia 76ers, his third start in five games. Utah’s continued tanking efforts are to Filipowski’s gain.
Tonight, the Utah Jazz are resting center Walker Kessler. Yes, the official reason is “rest.” They are not hiding their want to keep a Bottom-3 record in the NBA and the 14% chances at Cooper Flagg that will come with such a record, but while looking at the next Duke star to enter the NBA Draft, do not overlook the most recent one, even if Filipowski fell to the second round.
The rookie has cleared this prop in his last three games, his role increasing as Utah flounders. Without Kessler, John Collins, and Laura Markkanen tonight, Filipowski should have the most shots in the Jazz frontcourt.
And he is going against an increasingly undermanned Philadelphia roster. No Paul George. No Joel Embiid. Filipowski should be able to find repeated looks at the basket going against the likes of Andre Drummond, Guerschon Yabusele, and Justin Edwards.
Andre Drummond Over 11.5 rebounds (+105 at bet365)
Yes, it is the year 2025, and we are still betting on Andre Drummond rebounding Overs. The 13-year veteran has become a Philadelphia starter the last two weeks, tonight being his sixth straight start.
Drummond has grabbed at least seven rebounds in each of those starts, including 10+ in three of his last four games. To some degree, Drummond has needed to increase his endurance, not expecting to play nearly 30 minutes some nights.
When Drummond logs minutes, he inevitably finds rebounds. This has always been the case throughout his entire career.
With no Kessler in the lane tonight, Drummond should grab that many more rebounds. Without Kessler, Markkanen, and Collins, the Jazz rebounding onus falls to Filipowski, no one else genuinely in the Utah rotation collecting more than 8.2% of available rebounds. Filipowski is a quality player, but he cannot hold off Drummond on his own.
Jaden McDaniels Under 14.5 points (-115 at bet365)
Jaden McDaniels found his offense through the last month-plus even as the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves went just 5-8 in February, Julius Randle missing the entire month to an adductor strain, but McDaniels deserves credit for that stretch not being worse.
Most notably, he scored 27 points on only 16 shots in a 3-point overtime victory at OKC. Across the month, McDaniels averaged 18.5 points on 14.8 shots per game, up from 10.5 points on 8.9 attempts in the 48 games before February.
McDaniels played more often as the Timberwolves’ power forward, a spot where his quickness creates an offensive mismatch, and he can regularly get to his preferred turnaround jumper in the paint. It's an ugly shot that analytics must hate, but McDaniels makes it consistently.
With Randle back in the lineup, McDaniels moves to the small forward role more often. He's taken 13 shots per game in the four games since Randle’s return, but three of those games were 12 shots or fewer. That trend alone emphasizes the doubt in McDaniels continuing to pour in points.
