The Toronto Raptors likely have mixed feelings about their current three-game win streak, but their friendly schedule continues against the lowly Washington Wizards.
Toronto’s lottery odds have taken a hit with other Eastern Conference teams sinking in the standings, and my Wizards vs Raptors predictions see the hosts bumping up their win total tonight.
My NBA picks dig into the top betting angles for this clash on Saturday, March 8.

My Raptors pick
Raptors -4.5 (-105 at PointsBet Canada)
My analysis
Say what you want about the Toronto Raptors’ late-game lineups — over the past week, they’ve added up to a pair of wins against Orlando and a comfortable 118-109 victory over Utah last night. As a result, there’s a real risk of Toronto sliding out of the premium draft slots in this summer’s draft.
But player development is still the name of the game, and a matchup with the Washington Wizards tonight isn’t likely to sap the Raptors’ momentum, even with Immanuel Quickley resting and Scottie Barnes on the injury report.
The hosts are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 matchups against the Wizards, including a 106-82 victory in Washington in January, and they should have R.J. Barrett and Jakob Poeltl available after the pair sat out yesterday. The Raptors have picked up 14 of their 21 wins this season at Scotiabank Arena, and I’m comfortable laying the points rather than trusting a Wizards team that’s 5-23 on the road and 12-49 overall.
Toronto has been an ATS darling this year, with a 37-25-1 mark — and, whether it’s Jamal Shead, Orlando Robinson, or A.J. Lawson, we’ve consistently seen Darko Rajakovic getting the most out of his backups.
The Wizards have been more competitive lately, with Khris Middleton and Marcus Smart providing a veteran presence, but I’m not overreacting to wins over the Jazz, Hornets, and Nets — and with Jordan Poole listed as questionable, there’s even more reason to like the Raptors in this spot.
Raptors vs Wizards same-game parlay
I’ve landed on two veterans to build out my SGP. Poeltl sat out the first night of this back-to-back set for Toronto, but he should be the most impactful big man on the court here.
Even with a minutes restriction, Poeltl scored a combined 33 points in the two wins over Orlando this week. He ranks sixth in the NBA with his 61% shooting from the field this season, and I like the Over on a line of 13.5 points against the Wizards’ shaky frontcourt rotation.
Meanwhile, Middleton has been a stabilizing presence since arriving in Washington, and he’s had five or more assists in four of his six outings as a Wizard, getting the most out of his younger teammates.
With Toronto’s depleted roster, there should be opportunities for Middleton to flash his playmaking skills, and it’s an easy Over for me when his assists prop sits at just 3.5.

Raptors vs Wizards spread and Over/Under analysis
- Toronto enters as a clear home favorite, boasting a 5-2 ATS mark in its last seven contests.
- The Wizards benefit from having the rest advantage, but they’re just 26-34-1 ATS this season.
- The Raptors have hit the 1H Under in 35 of their last 55 outings.
- It’s hard to know what to expect from an erratic Washington offense. The visitors have gone past the 120-point mark in four of their last 10 games while scoring 90 points in two of the other six matchups.
