The New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons are going to be sick of each other. Not only are these two Eastern Conference clubs colliding on Thursday night, but they’re also likely locked into a first-round matchup when the NBA Playoffs tip off next week.

New York is in pursuit of the No. 3 seed in the East and heads to Motown down a couple starters. That means extra touches for guys like Mikal Bridges, who will have to shoulder the scoring load.

He highlights my best Knicks vs. Pistons predictions and NBA picks for April 10.

Knicks vs Pistons prediction

My best bet: Mikal Bridges Over 16.5 points (-115 at bet365)

My analysis
The New York Knicks will be without starters OG Anunoby and Josh Hart tonight, taking almost 32 points out of the Knicks’ starting five. That means more shots for the remaining rotation players, like Mikal Bridges.

The shooting guard has gone through up-and-down play the past couple months, overcoming a shooting slump in February to average almost 20 points a night in March. So far in April, the results are mixed for Mikal.

He’s put up scores of eight, 14, 14, 20, and 22 points in his last five games, which has dragged his scoring prop market down from highs of 24.5 points to lows of 15.5 O/U. Tonight’s point prop is parked at 16.5 Over/Under after Bridges scored just 14 points on 6-for-15 shooting in the overtime loss to Boston on Tuesday.

The Detroit Pistons back into this game in a bit of a funk, losing four of their last five and listing a few key players on the injury report. The Pistons' defensive rating has slipped during that span and they’ve allowed an average of 116.6 points against in those five contests.

Bridges has faced the Pistons three times this year, putting up 15, 20, and 27 points in those meetings. His most recent effort was that scoring high, knocking down 9 of 13 shots (6-for-8 from 3-point range) at home on January 13 with the Knicks at full strength.

Player projections all come in Over the 16.5-point total, with a ceiling closer to 18 points from Bridges. My number also comes out closer to 18 points, weighing in the missing pieces for New York. That should have the Over 16.5 option priced around -135 instead of the standard -115 ask on player props.

Knicks vs Pistons same-game parlay

Mikal Bridges Over 16.5 points

Karl-Anthony Towns 3+ assists

Tim Hardaway Jr. 10+ points

Bridges will pick up the slack with some starters out for the Knicks, and he dropped 27 points in his last run-in with the Pistons.

Karl-Anthony Towns is projected for three dimes and will see the ball a lot more with New York playing shorthanded.

Tim Hardaway Jr. is playing his best basketball in the home stretch, averaging almost 20 points over his last seven games. He’ll look to stick it to his former club.
