The San Antonio Spurs may have accelerated their timeline by acquiring stud point guard De'Aaron Fox, but the wins haven’t kept pace.
The Spurs lost 112-111 to the Orlando Magic last game, their second straight one-point loss after Fox debuted in a 126-125 win over Atlanta.
Overall, they have just four wins over the last 13 games, and defense is a major problem. San Antonio is allowing a whopping 121.4 points per game, with teams blistering them on 49.4% shooting from the field and 39% from downtown.
That’s the same problem the Washington Wizards are having, except it's been happening all year. They're allowing 121.6 points per game, the worst mark in basketball.
Washington is coming off a 125-111 thrashing at the hands of the Hawks, one game after being taken apart by the Cavaliers, 134-124.
Since a New Year’s win to kick off 2025, the Wizards have just three over the next 18.
They’ll be a little short-handed for this matchup with the Spurs, too, as veteran trade deadline pickups Marcus Smart and Khris Middleton are expected to debut after the All-Star break. Forwards Anthony Gill (ankle) and Alex Sarr (ankle) have also been ruled out, while Kyshawn George (ankle)is listed as questionable.
This will be the second and final meeting between these teams, as the Spurs took the opener on their home court 139-130.
As both teams continue to bleed points, it’s a good time to look at the total. The Over has cashed in four of the last six head-to-heads, while the Spurs have hit the Over in all three games since acquiring Fox.

However, in their only meeting this season, he put up a career-best 50 on the Wiz, including an 8-for-16 night from the 3-point line. Look for him to find the range in DC.
Streaky Jordan Poole has topped his 20.5 scoring line in his two last outings, after failing to top the 20-point plateau in nine of 10.
Like Wemby, Poole has good feelings from that November matchup, as he ripped the Spurs for 42 points on 15-for-22 shooting from the field. That’s his second-highest output of the season.
