The red-hot Cleveland Cavaliers will be without leading scorer Donovan Mitchell when they host the Portland Trail Blazers today.

Cleveland is the overwhelming favorite, and my Trail Blazers vs. Cavaliers predictions expect Evan Mobley to pick up the scoring slack.

Read on as I share my NBA picks for Sunday, March 2.

Trail Blazers vs Cavaliers prediction

My best bet
Evan Mobley Over 17.5 points (-115 at bet365)

My analysis
Donovan Mitchell has been a key part of the Cleveland Cavaliers' nine-game winning streak and a keystone piece on the best team in the Association. With Mitchell out, Cleveland will likely turn to another key player on this team. I like forward Evan Mobley to score big against the banged-up Portland Trail Blazers.

Mobley gets roughly a dozen shots up per game. The USC product is shooting 57% from the field and 33% from downtown at home, with an additional three free throws per night.

The Cavs forward has failed to clear 18+ in two straight on the road since Darius Garland’s return to the lineup. That made sense as Garland was getting re-adjusted, but I expect Mobley to get his opportunities to score on Sunday.

The Trail Blazers' defense has improved, but they lack the experience to deal with a versatile scorer like Mobley. The Cavs All-Star can score inside or outside and averages 2.2 offensive caroms at home.

Mobley has recorded 18+ in four of five at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, and I’m betting Mobley scores 18 or more against Portland.

Trail Blazers vs Cavaliers same-game parlay

Evan Mobley Over 17.5 points

Darius Garland Under 7.5 assists

Cavaliers -10.5

Garland will look to score the rock without Mitchell in the lineup, so his assist total is too high. He’s averaging 6.6 dimes per game at home, and he’s only cleared eight assists in three of 10.

He’ll need to score, as Portland has been hot. However, they are beating bad teams, and the Cavs are anything but a bad team, with a 27-4 SU home record.

The injuries have sucked the life from Portland’s depth. Rip City meets a deep Cleveland group riding a nine-game winning streak and 20-10-1 ATS record at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
