The Utah Jazz were the worst team in the NBA at full strength and now they're far from full strength with three starters and sixth-man Jordan Clarkson sidelined. The best player left in the lineup is Collin Sexton but coach Will Hardy limited him to just 20 minutes on Wednesday in a clear effort to tank.
With Cooper Flagg in their dreams, the Jazz are doing everything in their power to lose. They were doing a good job of that with nine losses in a row until they faced a Blazers team on Wednesday that was missing four starters. The Jazz won that game in overtime and will be in a good spot to be competitive again today.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have already wrapped up first place in the NBA and home-court advantage throughout the playoffs. With that in mind, they've ruled out all five starters as well as top backups Alex Caruso and Cason Wallace tonight due to injuries (wink, wink).
The Thunder have fantastic depth and have played very well even when resting starters over the last month. That said, no team can rest its seven best players without taking a significant step back, and laying 9.5-points on the road is a tough sell.
The Jazz have been playing fringe young players and while management might not want them to win, they're going to give a good effort. These are first and second-year guys that are fighting to earn more playing time and get contracts, so they'll be motivated.
