The Washington Wizards will try to string together back-to-back wins for just the second time this season when they take on the Charlotte Hornets, a team they’ve already beaten twice this season.

Charlotte has dropped four straight, yet the NBA’s last-placed team finds themselves as 4-point favorites when this tips off Monday night at 7 p.m. ET from Spectrum Center.

Our Wizards vs. Hornets predictions and NBA picks have the visitors taking advantage of the LaMelo-less Hornets and picking up consecutive wins.

Wizards vs Hornets prediction

My best bet
Wizards +4 (-110 at bet365)

My analysis
The Charlotte Hornets are coming off a 107-104 loss to the Nuggets last game, giving them six losses in their last seven games. A season-best nine-game homestand has been a nightmare, as the Hornets have just one win to show for it through five games.

They’ve had to play the last three without star LaMelo Ball, and the offense has gone into the tank. Including the game he left against the Lakers with an ankle injury, the Hornets have averaged a measly 99.5 points per game. It’s just not enough to support a decent defense that sits outside the Top 10 in points allowed at 111.9.

The Washington Wizards are one of the few teams that are scoring worse than the Hornets, and that’s saying a lot, as the Wizards rank 27th, putting up a lowly 106.9 points per contest. However, their defense finally came to the rescue, as Washington snapped a mammoth 16-game losing streak with a 105-103 road win over Minnesota.

They did have some help: Minnesota was missing its top two scores in Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle, but Washington will gladly take the win, its second on the road in 23 games. It also sets them up to win back-to-back games for the first time since taking both ends of a home-and-home set against Atlanta on Oct. 28 and 30.

Washington beat Charlotte 123-114 on Dec 19 and 113-110 on Boxing Day, and they did that with Ball in the lineup. Without him, Charlotte doesn’t have anyone else on their roster who can generate scoring opportunities, as evidenced by their 39.4% shooting from the floor and 33.8% mark from downtown over the last four.

Washington is the only team in the league with single-digit wins, so they’re currently holding onto the best NBA odds at potential top overall pick and Cooper Flagg.

This win won’t harm it, and it might be the last feel-good part of this Wizards’ season.

Wizards vs Hornets same-game parlay

Wizards +4

Kyle Kuzma Over 16.5 points

Hornets team total Under 110.5

Kyle Kuzma is coming off a monster performance against the Timberwolves, pouring in a season-high 31 points in 13-for-24 shooting, including 5-for-10 from 3-point range. He's scored 17+ points in three of his last four road games, including a 30-bomb against the Suns on Jan 25.

He’ll be facing the Hornets for the first time this season, but he’s crossed his 16.5-point total against them in four straight meetings and seven of the last eight.

We’ll stick with Charlotte’s inability to put up points without Ball for the last leg of this SGP. Charlotte has just one win in 15 games without their point guard and is averaging just 99.3 points per game. The Hornets have scored more than 111 points just once in that stretch.
