Falcons vs Commanders picks

Falcons vs Commanders expert picks & predictions

Pick: Jayden Daniels Over 47.5 rushing yards (-110 at bet365)

Early on in his rookie season, Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels established himself as one of the league's premier rushing quarterbacks, averaging 60 yards on the ground through five games. A rib injury slowed that progress, but he's been ramping back up. Josh Inglis likes what he's seen of late from Daniels.

"He ran for 81 yards last week on nine carries and rushed 11 times in Week 15 for 66 yards the week before. He currently leads all QBs in scramble yards and sits third in designed run rate. His Over is looking great again Sunday night and it's not just because of his increased volume and efficiency."

With rain in the forecast, Daniels could be forced to put the ball in his pocket in lieu of attempting ill-advised passes.

However, he may be the last man standing in Washington's backfield, too.

"Another path for more yards is with his personnel. Brian Robinson fumbled twice last week and Austin Ekeler is still on IR. Terry McLaurin was limited at practice this week while Dyami Brown has been a DNP. Daniels might be the one player who has to make things happen."

Falcons vs Commanders prop pick

Pick: Michael Penix Jr. Under 0.5 interceptions (+100 at bet365)

Rohit Ponnaiya has Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. in his sights even if his season debut didn't set the world on fire last week.

"Penix completed 18-of-27 passes for 202 yards and an interception. However, that pick came off the hands of tight end Kyle Pitts near the goal line. Penix had zero turnover-worthy plays and his receivers dropped three passes, giving him an impressive adjusted completion percentage of 80.8%. "

Like with Daniels, the rain could force Penix to play it safely when the ball is in his hands. But even if he does air it out, the Commanders' secondary is not good.

"Washington's defense is 28th in the league with six interceptions and ranks second-last in passes defended (47). Their secondary won't be able to come away with a pick in what should be a low-volume passing game."

Jayden Daniels prop pick

Pick: Jayden Daniels Over 1.5 passing touchdowns (+100 at bet365)

Ed Scimia is banking on Daniels using his arm at least a bit in the red zone.

"(Daniels') dual-threat excellence was evident even early in the season, but his passing numbers have only gotten better as the year has gone on. The Commanders now have him throwing more regularly and with more confidence, leading him to toss 12 touchdown passes in his last four games. That includes his five-touchdown outburst in a win over the Eagles last weekend."

Like Washington, Atlanta's pass defense is nothing special.

"Atlanta’s biggest weakness has clearly been against the passing game, where the Falcons allow opponents to complete 69.8% of their passes — second worst in the NFL — and throw to a 97.2 quarterback rating, also among the league’s worst numbers."

Falcons vs Commanders SNF same-game parlay

Jayden Daniels anytime TD

Jayden Daniels 70+ rushing yards

Commanders moneyline

Daniels is the clear focal point for this prime-time game, and Josh' Falcons vs Commanders predictions have him taking the ball into the end zone himself and leading the Commanders to the victory.

"The rookie QB also has seven red-zone carries over his last three games and has six rushing TDs on the year. Robinson is dealing with fumble issues and McLaurin has been limited at practice this week. I wouldn't be surprised if he got his number called in a rookie QB duel."
