While most people will be looking for player props from the stars on offense and defense in most games, the Super Bowl odds offer a wide variety of special teams props that can offer some fantastic value.

I break down the NFL odds and bring you my three favorite kicking and special teams picks for Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, February 9.

Kicking & special teams props for Super Bowl 59

Harrison Butker Over 1.5 field goals made (-170 at Caesars)

Early in his career with the Kansas City Chiefs, Harrison Butker was not really needed too much for field goals. The offense was always scoring touchdowns.

However, in recent years, Butker has become one of the most dependable kickers in the league and has lined up for several important field goals for the Chiefs.

In his previous four Super Bowls, he is a combined 9/10 on field goal attempts including a perfect 4/4 last year. In his 21 career playoff games, he is 36/40 kicking field goals.

However, he only attempted six in his first six games and has gone 30/34 in his last 15 playoff games.

In his previous Super Bowl matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, he had two field goal attempts and missed one. However, that game had five touchdowns for the Chiefs, which took away some of his opportunities.

The Eagles allowed only 31 touchdowns this season to 25 field goals. In their three playoff games this season, they allowed six field goals.

Matt Araiza shortest gross punt Over 38.5 yards (-165 at Caesars)

The Chiefs punter is not a player you typically think of to bet on, but he is solid when called upon. Matt Araiza has 62 punts on the season for a total of 3,027 gross yards.

That is an average of 48.8 yards, not counting returns.

He only punted twice in each of the two playoff games this season, but they were for 51, 36, 42, and 51 yards. That 36 may seem scary but that was a punt from the opponent’s 43-yard line, which is rare for a Patrick Mahomes-led offense.

I would not expect a punt in plus territory in the Super Bowl for the Chiefs.

There are really only two scenarios in which this prop loses. One is punting into a short field, which we mentioned being rare for the Chiefs and unlikely for them not to go for it or kick a field goal in the Super Bowl.

The other is if they get a punt blocked. However, Araiza has not had a punt blocked all season and the Eagles did not block a punt all season.

Chiefs Player Over 31.5 yards of longest kickoff return (-115 at Caesars)

The great thing about this prop is that there is no action if there is not a kickoff return. So, we will not be punished if there are only touchbacks on the kickoffs.

However, the Eagles only had touchbacks on 65% of their kickoffs this season, which ranked 18th in the NFL.

In their three playoff games, the Eagles allowed 11 kickoff returns for 259 yards and a long of 28, 23, and 32 yards. While that may seem like a dangerous prop to take the Over, none of those returners were as dangerous as the Chiefs Nikko Remigio.

Since taking over in Week 13, he has 18 kick returns for 512 yards.

Nikko has been especially dangerous in the playoffs, with longs of 63 and 33 in each game. The Chiefs did not have a single kick return in each of the last two seasons, but they will be much more comfortable letting Nikko try to get them great field position.

I believe he will get the opportunity and take advantage of at least one long one.
