Say it with me, "records are meant to be broken," and the star-studded Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will look to make Big-Game history in Super Bowl 59 at the Caesars Superdome on Sunday, February 9.

While the available Super Bowl odds are long for record-breaking performances in this year’s marquee showdown, our top Super Bowl predictions highlight a pair of Super Bowl player props for records that could be broken Sunday.

Two Super Bowl records that could be broken

Pick 1: Any QB to record a rushing TD of 16 or more yards

The longest rushing touchdown from a quarterback came in Super Bowl 47 when San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick ran one in from 15 yards out against the Baltimore Ravens.

Super Bowl 59 has a pair of mobile signal callers who’ve combined for 69 career rushing scores, with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts accounting for 55 across his 66 regular-season starts.

Of course, Hurts also ran for three scores and 70 yards in Super Bowl 57 against the Kansas City Chiefs, and he rushed for three touchdowns against the Washington Commanders in this year’s NFC Conference Championship Game.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has had a nose for the end zone during the postseason, too.

He has seven playoff touchdowns, including one in Super Bowl 55 against San Francisco. Additionally, Mahomes ran two in against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Conference Championship Game.

Pick 2: Any QB to record 10 or more consecutive pass completions to start the game

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning completed 10 consecutive passes to open Super Bowl 46 against the New England Patriots, so this is a record-tying prop.

I’m expecting Mahomes to have the best shot at matching Manning because the Eagles defense will likely force the Chiefs to attack with short and intermediate passes.

The Eagles finished the regular season ranked second in PFF run defense while allowing the second-lowest EPA per rush, and Philly also allowed the fourth-lowest yards per carry to opposing running backs. The Philadelphia pass defense allowed the fewest yards per attempt, ranked first in PFF coverage defense, and surrendered the fewest passing completions of 20 yards or more, too.

As a result, I expect Mahomes and the KC offense to attack through the air with quick-hit, low-risk throws. Additionally, we also have the benefit of Chiefs head coach Andy Reid having the two-week break to set his uber-talented QB up for success against the stout Philly defense.
