Aaron Donald Tackles + Assists pick
- Aaron Donald Over 4.5 tackles + assists (-110)
Pick made on February 10, 2022.
Aaron Donald has been the most dominant player in the NFL over the last several seasons and that dominance has led him and the Rams on the doorstep of his first Super Bowl title. Donald impacts the game unlike anyone else in the NFL.
The truck of a defensive lineman is constantly pushing opposing offensive lineman backward and making plays in the backfield. He is so dominant in fact, that there are only three players in this Super Bowl to have better MVP odds than he does: Matthew Stafford, Joe Burrow, and Cooper Kupp.
Donald has been relatively quiet so far in the playoffs (eight combined tackles and 1.5 sacks), but he has been very reliable when it comes to going Over this tackles + assists number this season. In fact, he went Over 4.5 tackles + assists in his final eight regular season games.
Now, some might think that the Bengals will do whatever they can to stay away from Donald. Run to opposite sides, use quick-hitting routes to negate the pressure Donald will inevitably create. But it isn’t as easy as that anymore when facing the Rams.
With edge rushers Von Miller and Leonard Floyd flanking Donald and playing at a high level, it’s almost a pick your poison scenario in this one. That brings us to the Bengals' biggest weakness in this Super Bowl: their offensive line.
The Bengals’ run blocking is OK, not great, but where they really struggle is in pass protection. They ranked 31st in the NFL in adjusted sack rate. Heck, they allowed Burrow to get sacked nine times in their Divisional Round matchup against the Titans.
After coming up short in the Super Bowl last time, Donald will just be that much more motivated, and the Bengals will feel his massive impact all game long.
