Much has been made of the Kansas City Chiefs' banged-up and battered wide receiver room heading into Super Bowl 57. But after two weeks off, things may be looking up for the Chiefs in that department.

Kadarius Toney will suit up tonight despite suffering an ankle injury in the AFC Championship Game. He has not lived up to his potential at this early stage in his NFL career, but Toney is a lightning rod on the field with next-level speed. He could be an under-the-radar game-changer for the Chiefs, who are currently underdogs on the Super Bowl odds board.

His inconsistent play to this point could provide us some value with one of his Super Bowl player props this evening. Check out my Super Bowl predictions for Toney below.

Kadarius Toney Super Bowl 57 best bet

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told reporters that Kadarius Toney (and JuJu Smith-Schuster for that matter) practiced this week and that things were “looking good” for them to play in the Super Bowl this evening. Then Toney himself came out and said he was “definitely” going to suit up tonight.

Toney could be a sneaky-important piece to the Chiefs' offense in this matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles

As noted, Toney has game-changing speed. He’s just one of those guys who moves differently on a football field. Unfortunately, injuries and the wrong situation have limited Toney through his first two professional seasons.

But there is a reason that the Chiefs went out and traded for Toney — they saw his potential as a playmaker. While no one is expecting Toney to be Tyreek Hill, he certainly has some of the same traits. It’s clear the Chiefs have been trying to get him more involved in the offense as the weeks have passed.

Toney was targeted six times over the last two weeks of the regular season, with him grabbing all six of those targets for 89 yards. That has carried over into the playoffs too.

Toney was targeted seven times in the AFC Divisional matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, catching five of those passes for 36 yards. He looked like he was going to be a part of the Chiefs’ game plan in the AFC Championship Game, as he was targeted twice with one catch before being forced to leave in the first quarter.

He could be a useful safety valve for Patrick Mahomes against an Eagles defense that is known for causing pressure on opposing quarterbacks. The Chiefs should try to get the ball quickly out of Mahomes’ hands, and into the hands of a guy like Toney and let him do his thing.

Toney has the speed to break a big one at any time, and his versatility could come in handy in this matchup against the Eagles. Don’t be surprised if Reid has some stuff in the playbook in order to take advantage of Toney’s strengths. With a receiving yards total of 23.5, the Over is a great play here tonight.

I really think Toney can be a sneaky X-factor in this Super Bowl. His combination of speed and fluidity could make him a tantalizing checkdown option for Mahomes against an Eagles defense that puts a lot of pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Once you get the ball in Toney’s hands, he has the kind of speed and agility to take it to the house at any time.

Toney has the ability to go Over his receiving yards prop on one play, so it’s a good starting point for this same-game parlay. That home run hitting ability makes adding an anytime touchdown an easy choice. Toney scored two touchdowns in his seven regular season games with the Chiefs, and almost scored a spectacular one in the AFC Championship Game against the Bengals.

There’s a reason Travis Kelce is the favorite to find the end zone in Super Bowl 57. The Kansas City tight end has 15 touchdowns this season, including three in the playoffs. Toney’s presence will hopefully help open things up a bit for the Chiefs target magnet in the red zone.
