The Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning face off in an Atlantic Division matchup tonight in Tampa and both teams have won two straight.

Boston has been its dominant self this regular season with a 13-1-2 record through 16 games. On the other side, the Lightning have done their best to tread water without Andrei Vasilevskiy, sitting at 8-6-4 through 18 games. As such, the Bruins are road favorites in the latest NHL odds.

Which team will extend their win streak to three? Read on for our Bruins vs. Lightning NHL picks and predictions.

Bruins vs Lightning predictions

The Boston Bruins haven't really missed a beat with the retirements of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci. Sure, they could use another center to bolster their lineup, but the B's are off to another impressive start this regular season.

Boston has once again been a strong 5-on-5 team this season. The Bruins' 52.13% xGF at 5-on-5 ranks 12th in the league while the Lightning sit 21st at 48.13%.

Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman have combined for a league-best .945 SV% at 5-on-5 play and .935 SV% in all situations. It should be Ullmark (6-1-1, 2.23 GAA, .928 SV%) getting the nod tonight for Boston.

Saturday night’s 5-2 win over Montreal was a big one for Boston after losing to the Habs a week prior.

“I thought we played the right way for 60 minutes, the way we want to play,” Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said. “You’re going to give up scoring chances because you’re playing in the NHL and the other teams are good too.”

The Bruins have a great chance to build on that tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Lightning lost three straight games — including two shutout losses — before beating the Blackhawks and getting a win over the Oilers. However, they were significantly outshot (43 to 24) in that game and that isn't a recipe for success. Particularly when facing a well-oiled machine like Boston.

Lightning center Anthony Cirelli missed Saturday night's game and is questionable tonight, meaning an already top-heavy Bolts team could be missing a key piece in the top six.

Going on the road hasn't been an issue for Boston at 6-1-1 this season while Tampa Bay is 5-2-2 at home. Back Boston to get two points tonight in Tampa.

Bruins vs Lightning same-game parlay

Bruins moneyline

Under 6.5

Brad Marchand 3+ shots on goal

The Bruins should go into Tampa and come away with a win, so we’re using our best bet to start the same-game parlay.

After that, we’re looking for this to be a classic low-scoring showdown between these teams.

While these aren't identical rosters, the Bruins and Lightning know each other pretty well. Three of the four meetings last season went Under the total, including an Under 5.5!

Despite going Over the total in their last two games, the Bruins have been more of an Under team this season. They've allowed a league-low 2.00 goals per game and that’s resulted in a 10-6 record for the Under.

To close out the parlay, we’re going to look at Brad Marchand to keep firing pucks on the net. Marchand has averaged over three shots per game this season with 55 SOG in 16 contests.

He's had at least three shots in three straight games and eight of his last nine as well. In fact, this could be a ladder spot for Marchand, who has reached five shots on goal in six of 16 games thus far. It’s also worth noting that Marchand had three shots on goal in all four meetings with Tampa last season.
