Canucks vs Blackhawks Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NHL Game

The Blackhawks may have a bright future but the present remains rough. The Canucks are the superior team and will stomp all over Chicago tonight in a lopsided win.

The Vancouver Canucks will be looking to finish their road trip with a win as they visit the Chicago Blackhawks tonight.

My Canucks vs Blackhawks predictions have the visitors continuing their dominance against Chicago in the first of three meetings in 2024-25.

Read on as I break down the matchup and why Vancouver should run wild in the Windy City with my NHL picks on Tuesday, October 22.

My analysis
The Vancouver Canucks got off to a poor start this season, losing their first three games.

However, Vancouver has turned things around as of late, beating the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers last Thursday in overtime before smacking the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday by a score of 3-0.

The Chicago Blackhawks happen to be a team that Vancouver plays extremely well against. They’ve won seven straight meetings and have covered the puck line in six. In 2023-24, it was 4-3, 2-0, and 4-2 victories.

The reigning Pacific Division winners have found some confidence over the last five days after finally grabbing a pair of victories and their record versus Chicago is every reason to believe another convincing win will be in the cards here.

The Blackhawks finished last season 23-5-6 (only the Sharks were worse) and while they may take strides in Connor Bedard's sophomore season, this is still a rebuilding team that will not be competitive on a nightly basis.

Canucks vs Blackhawks same-game parlay (SGP)

Canucks -1.5

Conor Garland anytime goal

Under 6.5

Conor Garland scored 20 goals and supplied 27 assists while playing a key part in Vancouver’s playoff run. So far in ‘24-25, Garland is looking good, already scoring twice and setting up two more in five appearances.

While he hasn’t scored for a couple of games now, there’s reason to believe he could find the back of the net tonight. Garland scored twice and had an assist in three meetings with the Blackhawks in ‘23-24 with 10 shots. He only scored more against two other teams.

Neither Vancouver nor Chicago have scored a lot of goals so far. The Canucks rank 23rd with 2.8 per game, while the Blackhawks are 27th with 2.5.

Also, six of the last eight meetings have hit the Under in total goals. Last season, two of the three games cashed in on the Under. While the Canucks are starting to figure it out offensively, the Blackhawks aren’t, as evidenced by Bedard only notching one goal to date.

Vancouver has looked more solid defensively across the last two contests on the road, too. This one will not be high-scoring.
