The Canucks visit Calgary tonight, looking to keep their red-hot start going against the Flames as NHL odds underdogs. Vancouver's fresh off a comeback overtime win over the Islanders on Wednesday night. On the other side, the Flames had a much-needed win last time out in Montreal to bring them up to 5-8-2 on the season.
The Canucks and Flames split the four-game season series last year with three of the four contests decided past regulation.

Canucks vs Flames predictions
The Canucks' win on Wednesday night moved them to the top of the Western Conference at 12-3-1. What's been most impressive is that 11 of those wins have come in regulation.
Vancouver has taken the league by storm in the early going. Head coach Rick Tocchet quickly moved up the charts and is now the favorite to win the Jack Adams Award. Elias Pettersson, Quinn Hughes, and Thatcher Demko are all receiving serious consideration for the Hart, Norris, and Vezina Trophy odds as well.
They may have been down 2-0 and then 3-1 to the Islanders on Wednesday night, but they were never out of it.
"It felt like we were going to win," Hughes said. "We were all over them in the second (period) and just believe in ourselves. It's our maturity level. Just knowing what makes us successful and we've got a lot of hungry guys who aren't going to accept losing right now."
Hughes is not only in the Norris Trophy conversation but the Hart Trophy odds as well. He is tied with teammates Pettersson and J.T. Miller for the league lead in points with 26.
Filip Hronek, Hughes’ defensive partner on the top pair, is also off to a stellar start this season. He scored his first goal of the year to tie the game against the Islanders, and it extended his point streak to 14 games. In total, he has 17 points in 16 games this season.
The Canucks’ offense has been carrying them and Hronek has been getting in on the action. While others’ odds to record a point are a bit juiced, you can still get Hronek at plus odds.
My best bet: Filip Hronek to record a point (+105 via SIA)

Canucks vs Flames same-game parlay
The Canucks are the best team in the West for a reason, as just about everyone — including Hronek — is getting in on the act. They should show their class tonight in Calgary while presenting value as the underdogs.
We’re going to take the Canucks on the moneyline to kick off our parlay, and then add in the Over 6.5 for this Pacific Division battle.
Both teams have played more higher-scoring games this season. The Canucks have gone Over the total in 10 of their 16 games, while the Flames are hitting at a similar rate of Over in eight of 15 contests.
To close out the parlay, we’re going to take a stab at Ilya Mikheyev to score.
The Russian winger has been the beneficiary of playing on the top line with Pettersson. He leads the Canucks in both scoring chances (32) and high-danger chances (18) at 5-on-5 play this season. That's resulted in six goals in 12 games for the winger.

Canucks vs Flames moneyline and Over/Under analysis
The Flames are home favorites at -145 while the Canucks are road underdogs at +120.
While Calgary should be favored in this spot, -145 seems a tad too high against this Vancouver team. There is some value on this Canucks team as underdogs.
The total is set at 6.5 with the Over slightly favored at -115 and the Under at -105.
This could go either way as far as the total is concerned, but I lean towards the Over given Vancouver’s high-powered offense.
