The Nashville Predators host the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday evening at Bridgestone Arena, and the NHL odds list Nashville as a -141 favorite.

Vancouver forward Jake DeBrusk leads the team in goals this season, and my Canucks vs. Predators predictions are optimistic that he will find the back of the net once again on Wednesday night.

Read on for my NHL picks for January 29.

My Canucks analysis
A large portion of Jake DeBrusk’s success this season has come on the man-advantage, as he leads the Vancouver Canucks in power-play goals. This success should continue on Wednesday, given that the Nashville Predators rank 25th in penalty minutes taken per game and 17th in penalty-kill percentage.

The Predators haven’t been much better at even strength either. At 5-on-5, they rank 18th in xGA/60.

Due to the number of high-danger scoring chances that Nashville surrenders, goaltender Juuse Saros has struggled. His SV% has dropped below .900 this season, and he has allowed three or more goals in seven of his past 11 starts. Saros is 4-5-1 over that stretch with a .865 SV% and 3.54 GAA.

These struggles could continue against Vancouver, a team against which Saros has recorded a .897 SV% over the past 12 meetings. It also doesn’t help the Predators’ cause that they are missing a few guys with injuries, including Mark Jankowski, Jeremy Lauzon, and Luke Evangelista.

Canucks vs Predators odds analysis

Nashville opened as a -141 favorite, and remains at that price as of Wednesday afternoon. I believe the market will bet this line down, due to all of the aforementioned variables.

The total opened at 5.5 and also remains unchanged. The juice is on the Over, and considering that neither goaltender sports a SV% in the .900s, this number could close at a flat 6.
