We’ve got a full docket tonight in the NHL, including a potential Stanley Cup preview between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Colorado Avalanche.
The NHL odds suggest the Avs will win at home tonight, but the Buds have won six straight and have benefited from a dominant offense and a red-hot power play.
Find out why that should tip the scales in my free NHL picks for Maple Leafs vs. Avalanche on February 24.

Maple Leafs vs Avalanche predictions
The Toronto Maple Leafs enter tonight’s matchup against the Colorado Avalanche playing their best hockey of the season. The Buds have won six straight games, outscoring teams 34-14 with a 50% success rate on the power play.
That’s the section of the betting board I’m taking a look at tonight, and I see some good value there.
Enter Mitch Marner.
The Leafs star winger is currently riding a nine-game point streak with 19 points in that span. Of those 19 points, seven of them have come on the man advantage, and Marner has recorded at least one power-play point in four of his last five games.
Meanwhile, the Avalanche have just three wins in February, and only one of those has come against a fellow playoff team. As for their penalty kill, it ranks middle of the pack at 18th in the NHL since the All-Star break.
With Colorado ranked 10th in the league in penalties taken this season, that should give Marner ample opportunity to strike on the man advantage.
Additionally, games between the Avs and Leafs have historically been quite high-scoring, which bodes well for Marner’s ability to produce offense when given power-play opportunities. The Over is 7-2-1 over the last 10 meetings between these two, with the Leafs registering five or more goals themselves in four of those games — including a 24% success rate on the power play over that stretch.
My best bet: Mitch Marner Over 0.5 powerplay points (+200 at SIA)
Maple Leafs vs Avalanche same-game parlay
For leg one of my same-game parlay, we’ll go back to the old faithful Auston Matthews anytime goal. He’s up to 52 tallies on the year, boasts goals in five straight games, and has cashed an anytime goal bet in 12 of his last 15 outings. You better believe he’ll want to have a strong showing in the Mile High City tonight.
Next up, let’s go with the Over on the alternate total of 5.5 goals. The Over is 7-2-1 in the past 10 meetings between these two clubs. Additionally, the Leafs have averaged 5.6 goals throughout their six-game winning streak. As for the Avs, they average 3.64 goals per game themselves, so this could become a track meet.
For my final leg, I think the Leafs keep it rolling with a moneyline victory. The team is getting contributions up and down the lineup, and the Leafs have played their best hockey of late. Historically, Toronto has fared well in Colorado too, winning three of its last four games at Ball Arena.

Maple Leafs vs Avalanche moneyline and Over/Under analysis
The Leafs come into tonight as +100 road dogs, with the Avs entering as -120 favorites. The Buds have won six in a row and are playing elite hockey right now, whereas, the Avs have won just three games in their past nine since returning from the All-Star break.
The total for tonight’s game is set at 6.5 goals, and the Over has cashed seven times over the past 10 meetings between these two teams. The Leafs and Avs average 7.32 goals per game combined, while they both allow over three goals a piece on average. With the amount of offensive firepower in this one, I’d expect the trend to continue with another high-scoring affair.
