The Ottawa Senators head to TD Garden to face off against the Boston Bruins for the first time this season as the visitors look to snap a two-game losing streak.

Despite Ottawa’s recent struggles, Brady Tkachuk has been a consistent shot producer for the Sens all season, and I’ll explain how that factors into my Senators vs. Bruins predictions and NHL picks for Saturday, November 9.

My Senators analysis
The Ottawa Senators have hit a rough patch with just two wins in their last seven games, but one thing that’s remained pretty consistent is Brady Tkachuk’s penchant for shooting the puck.

The Senators captain leads the club with 46 shots on net — 13 more than the next-closest player — and ranks 17th in the NHL with 3.54 shots per game.

Tkachuk has seen his shot rate cool off over the last three contests as he’s registered just four total attempts during that span, but that came on the heels of a four-game stretch where he had 21 total shots and 4+ shots in each of those outings.

The Boston Bruins have had a pretty mediocre start to their season and haven’t been the defensive powerhouse we’re used to seeing. Boston ranks 20th in shots against per game (29.1) and the B’s are coming off a game where they allowed 37 to the Flames.

After a couple of quiet games, Tkachuk will be eager to make an impact tonight against a division rival who he’s had success against in the past. The Senators forward has recorded at least four shots in nine of his last 11 meetings vs. Boston.

Senators vs Bruins Over/Under analysis

  • Both the Senators and Bruins have played some low-scoring hockey of late, with the Under going 2-0-2 in Ottawa’s last four games and 3-1 in Boston’s last four.
  • The Bruins rank 25th in goals per game (2.53), which should help push this game towards the Under.
  • The clubs have also combined for five or fewer goals in their last six head-to-head games.
  • Tonight’s total opened at six goals, but betting has already pushed that number down to 5.5 across the board.
