Best Oilers vs Panthers SGP for Tuesday
Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid will rise to the occasion of a momentous Game 7, especially after he failed to register a shot on net, let alone a single point, as he fizzled in Game 6. However, that dud came on the back of consecutive four-point clinics from the superstar forward.
This will be the fourth Game 7 of his career, and they’ve been a mixed bag. He went scoreless with a shot on goal in a 2-1 loss to Anaheim in Round 2 in 2017. In Round 1 against the Kings in 2021-22, he registered a goal and an assist in a 2-0 win. Finally, he produced a single shot in a game Edmonton won 3-2 over Vancouver in this year's tournament.
Win or lose, look for the playoff-scoring leader to add one last big night to his stat sheet.
Warren Foegele has been a scoring revelation for the Oil. He had a goal and an assist in Game 6, the fourth straight time the 28-year-old has hit the scoresheet. Foegele has two goals and three assists since Game 3, which is the longest scoring streak for him this season.
We’ll wrap with Florida Panthers center Carter Verhaeghe, who finally found the scoresheet with an assist in Game 6, only his second point of this series, and his first since a goal in Game 1.
The Panthers offense has gone dormant since building a 3-0 series lead, getting outscored 18-5 over the last three games.
He’s been a bunch scorer in these playoffs, with two separate five-game point streaks under his belt. Verhaeghe is worth a flier to light the lamp and pick up points in back-to-back games with the season hanging in the balance.
