Additionally, the Phillies finished fifth in wOBA and second in xwOBA with the second-lowest strikeout rate against left-handed pitchers in the second half, so I anticipate Philadelphia also chipping in runs Tuesday afternoon.

With the Philadelphia rotation taxed after battling to their final game to secure a postseason berth, I’d recommend the Atlanta moneyline to 68%. Additionally, Braves lefty Chris Sale has posted a 3.31 xERA and 3.29 xFIP through eight starts against the Phillies over the past three years. Philly is expected to counter with a bullpen game featuring bulk work from lefty Jesus Luzardo and righty Andrew Painter. Luzardo returned from a shoulder injury for a relief inning Sunday, while Painter sports a discouraging 4.60 xERA and 4.55 xFIP on the road. This gives the Braves a sizable starting-pitching edge in Game 1.

The White Sox and Astros are both swinging hot bats at the right time, making the market’s low-scoring expectation intriguing. Houston posted a 117 wRC+, .338 wOBA and .776 OPS during the final week of the regular season, while Chicago posted a 131 wRC+, .358 wOBA and .806 OPS. The White Sox’s pitching situation remains uncertain, and whoever takes the mound won’t exactly inspire confidence. Chicago’s bullpen also owns a 3.55 ERA and 4.59 xERA over its last 21 games while allowing a 42% hard-hit rate. With both offenses clicking, I’m expecting plenty of scoring in this matchup.

The White Sox are in a strong spot to jump out early against Astros opener AJ Blubaugh, who owns a 7.71 ERA across 11.2 innings this month. Over his last seven appearances, he’s allowing 2.70 HR/9 with a 70% elevation rate, while opposing hitters own a .303 xBA and .600 xSLG. Chicago’s offense has started to wake up, posting a 112 wRC+, .332 wOBA and .736 OPS in its recent stretch. Erick Fedde or Davis Martin will follow as the bulk reliever, with Fedde preferred after posting a 3.45 ERA over his last five road starts. I’m backing Chicago as a Game 1 underdog.

Moneyline
This is the most common and easiest wager for a bettor to make when it comes to MLB picks. Basically, to win an MLB moneyline pick, you just have to choose which team will win the game.
It's simple: if you bet the White Sox moneyline over the Red Sox and Chicago wins, you win your bet.
Run line
The run line is another name for a point spread that you may be more familiar with in NBA and NFL betting. A point spread varies in the NFL and NBA from as little as 0.5 points up to double-digit spreads. A baseball run line is almost always a 1.5-point spread.
The favorite will be -1.5 while the underdog will be +1.5. At the end of the game, if you take away 1.5 runs from the favorite or add 1.5 runs to the underdog and they end up winning the game, you win your MLB pick against the spread.
Totals (Over/Under)
Another common wager is to bet on the total in baseball, which is a bet on the total runs scored in the baseball game. You are simply choosing whether the final score will be Over or Under that total. Betting the Over/Under on a matchup is a great way to get started in MLB score predictions.

NRFI/YRFI MLB Picks
A new and emerging MLB betting market is the NRFI/YRFI bet. These are quick-hitters in which you make a wager on the O/U total of the first inning, typically set at 0.5 runs.
