I disagree. The parallel is the same if you're going to be forgiving. I took back a cheater once. It drove me nuts. When she was 15 minutes late, I'd convince myself she was out trolling again. If you let her back in, you're going to drive yourself insane and spend way too much of your valuable time keeping an eye on her. If you own a business, you don't want to be having to micromanage everyone and everything.
They are not dating. This is a business decision,

Cheating and stealing is cheating and stealing regardless of the conditions. I'm going on business #7 and it truly hurts when someone you've entrusted does this to you. It's all the best to avoid it happening again and it will happen again if you allow it.

why would you ever try to help somebody who conscientiously and deliberately fucked you over multiple times?
Because he hasn't realized that out of the 365 days in a year, there are only 1 or 2 non gambling days where he'll get a chance to read his comic books?

CMT, you are correct. That is alot of money. Maybe not for this particular hotel (made our company over $500,000 on 2M sales. That is just net profit, after all over head is deducted). But I have a few others that DON'T make money, and I need to move money around. $5000 pays a weeks payroll for some hotels.
I believe I am going to call her and speak with her. I am going to demand she repay me, and get professional. I want a signed document from a professional that I can call, even visit once just to make sure, but I don't believe she would NOT go. If I feel right about it, agrees to these terms, and she convinces me she is sincere, I am going to hire her back. Thanks to all. Please don't bash me over this decision, it has been grueling for me.

You'd be surprised at what happens when you cut people a break. Yes, I have managed before.
Had this one gal in my department who I wasn't crazy about. She was always fighting and arguing with her co-workers. She was kind of a chick bully and was hassling some of the nicer women.
I sat her down more than once and asked her why she couldn't just chill, breathe, and get along with her co-workers. If she was trying to ger ahead, or a raise or something, this was not the way to go about that. I sign off on all those things and you are in the back of the line until you start acting nicer to your co-workers.
Large company, and firing people is kind of a hassle. Basically just let them die on the vine was much easier .... Anyway, I catch her rifling through my locked desk drawers looking at her co-workers evaluations. She looked like a ghost. Could have had her leave the building for good but really didn't want to spend half a day documenting this so I just shook my head, asked her if she was looking for anything in particular, and then walked out the door and went home without firing her.
Next day, she was the nicest human being I have ever met and was delivering donuts to her co-workers. Didn't turn into a superstar but she ended up being at least an average employee. The OTHER employees were thrilled that 1) Her attitude had changed, and 2) THEIR management was cool tempered.

Sry. AND get professional help. Seriously, I believe MOST of you would do the same in my situation, and you knew this person. I don't usually feel this way, but I believe I can help this person. Hey, might even help me get to heaven!

Just be ultra cool and not attacking, offensive, or passive/aggressive, or anything. Just be as normal as can possibly be and ask her what she's got in the new account pipeline to get over this silly little hiccup.
She'll work like a freaking dog and you'll get another $500k

Seriously, here is what I would do....

Maybe you are right, dillon. She grossed $51,000 last year. But still, if she wasn't happy with her salary, why not just say so? I probably would have increased it. I don't believe there is any justification for theft. I don't believe 51G is terrible money for a medium sized city in the Midwest. The managers write their own schedules--all depends on their help and volume/profitability--but this manager works about 42/44 hours per week. Granted, they are on call 24/7....

I'm not caustic, just experienced. When you have an employee, who is supposed to be making the tax deposits, take $175K from you, you'll get guarded. Of course, I now have to work out something with the IRS. This, by the way, is after they levied all of my accounts and my childrens as well.
As I said before, it sounds like you've already made up your mind.
Sounds like you stole the money yourself and hid it in your childrens accounts because the IRS does not rouch MINOR account unless under suspicion you are hiding money.

Seems like you have a great plan that will certainly impact this woman's life. Respect does not come automatically with a position or a title-it is earned by making the right decisions at the right times. In this situation, you are earning the highest respect of all-self respect!
